Saving another w140: 1997 Mercedes s420 sat for years. Will it start?

I love the way Pete looks at the paint and says "We'll need to just strip down the paint..." - Like there's simply nothing to it. A friend of mine has a nice '99 S320 but the clear coat has a few spots where the lack of waxing got through it on the roof. Paint's fine just clear coat. He took it to Macco to get an estimate and it was $970.00+

I have replaced several fuel pumps with used ones from pick a part..I normally replace them from a eclass they are the same

Congratulations on starting up a car. When I bought my 97 S420 I ended up replacing a fuel tank. When it sits for to long without the fuel it goes very rusty inside and clogs the fuel filter all the time.

Fuel pumps glove boxes ...all that engineering went into the motors specifically the 315 horse

Maybe there is also a hidden benefit on having two pumps? if one of them fails can the other one at least keep the car running to get you home? that would be good for reliability.

Fuel tank needs to be replaced for sure. It’s all rusted out. Seen myself at least twice. I have been there. common problem on w140 when it sits for a long time.

Hi. I'm trying to restore my 1999 w140 s500. Currently im on the SLS system. The bar that connects the sway bar to the valve, along with the two ride height position sensor bars have rubber grommets that are in very poor condition, and a few are missing completely. I have searched relentlessly for new grommets or new bars with new grommets and cannot find the ones for the ride height sensors. Do you have any advice?
