Saving Fish From Abandoned Pet Store!

In today's video, my friend and I found an abandoned pet store in Miami Florida! There was tons of rundown ponds filled with koi, goldfish, and other exotic fish! And inside the abandoned building was several fish tanks filled with pladys, angel fish, tetras, and goldfish. So I decided to buy them all and save them!

@@walllyisbestbird5227 the ones in the front corner are finch/canary breeding cages the small ones on the ceiling are commonly sold as transport cages for finches/parakeets while people use them as permanent cages they are not meant to be but are perfect for transport as the small size makes it less likely for them to be able to hurt themselves if the get spooked.

The sad reality is that when you buy fish from conditions like this, you’re not saving them. You’re just buying them, and they will be replaced quickly by more fish that will live in equally deplorable conditions.

It's crazy how close is that place from my house...it's like 3 minutes away and I didn't know how big it was ,I always go to the front and buy tamales but I'm pretty sure that the place it's not abandoned....actually I think it's a good idea to go tomorrow and save some of those fishes and give them a new home

I don't think those fish need saving, look at the water clarify, glass wall and bottom of the tank, all of it are very clean, the owner seem to take good care of the fish. No need filtration if you keep changing water and clean it, as for the oxygenation part, those fish are hardie they don't need much oxygen.

Did you ask any questions about the business? they probably do landscape / aquascape type stuff and use this facility to grow out stock options. Would make sense why they wouldn't care for walk-in business if they can sell that stock at considerably higher prices in projects.

Most likely No filtration because they are all natural spring water fed. Especially the ponds. They are on a constant water change so no need for filtration. I’d assume the tanks are changed a couple times a week and probably swooped out of the large ponds for sale.

This place truly has so much potential... I see what they're either trying to make it become, or what it was at one point... but the poor animals are really being neglected. I will say there's a chance the owner can make it better with enough love, hard work, money, and determination... but it looks like they want to make as much money without putting little to no money or effort in. I hope I'm wrong though, and they turn this place around.

Don’t buy them. You are literally rewarding that guy. Operant conditioning. You bought those fish. If you go back and buy more, he’ll get the idea that if he puts these fish in poor conditions, he’ll make more money. I would go back and check on them again. If nothing improves then I would go through the appropriate channels to get the place shutdown and the owner fined for animal neglect.

Honestly, those are some of the healthiest looking ponds, with some of the clearest water I've seen... And you're in Florida? Rains a LOT in Florida. And rain water isn't the worst thing for a pond. Maybe they don't NEED the filtration there, ever think of that?

Can't hide ammonia no matter what state or how the weather is. Every fish kept in captivity would need some sort of way to get rid of that ammonia. In this situation the outside display/holding ponds do look like they have flowing water which means that they have an outtake somewhere in the ponds. With a filter system cycling the water back. Those inside tanks.... yea....No filtration with that many fish = high ammonia. Ammonia = fin rot, gill rot/damage and other internal issues, which in turn basically causes the fish to suffocate. Those fish in the tanks needed to be moved if the owner wasn't going to do a water change. The color/tint of those tank's water, shows that the fish haven't been maintained for at least a few days and a lot of um will perish. Most of the time when an owner notices the fish is suffering from ammonia poisoning....its to late. Some do survive if treated and the damage done to the main organs isn't bad. But yea....ammonia in fish ponds/tanks is no joke.

@@justacutie. - he may have had surgery on his vocal cords to either silence him or he might have a condition where the flap in the throat become paralyzed and the surgery tacks one side back so they can breathe but a side effect is they can no longer bark properly. (I had a lab that had that happen to.)

In the wild, there are plants that help keep water oxygenated. Fish may live in water, but they still require oxygen. Filters provide that- otherwise they suffocate

I have been in animal rescue for 20 years I was also an animal control officer and 15 of my years I have spent being a veterinary technician it technician and I will tell you this if you see cruelty and you don't report it you are just as guilty as the person doing it.

I don't believe any of those fish needed rescuing, obviously a fish farm for whole sale and a little shop front, they probably change the water daily in the smaller tanks, there were no dead fish so either they regularly are cleaning the tank or have a good enough set up for the fish, and the large ponds don't always need a pump, it's a pond in the outdoors, people have fish in small dams all the time without pumps. The biggest health risk was having that many fish in one small bag, that had a very small oxygen supply and very little surface area
