Happy day Lyn I am so glad your Pilosocereus is healthy and no rot! No apologies needed as you record I know as a creator it’s hard to do your plant chores and ensure the camera is where it should be or in a lighted area. It isn’t easy! I love these kinds of videos and your pests, so keep them coming. Have a great Saturday!

How interesting -I had the tip die on my 40+ yr old Cleistocactus last year, which was my first cactus. I think due to underwatering. I hope your lovely cute cactus recovers, such a lovely shape.

Oh no!! I really love this particular plant of yours!!! The shape is so classic cactus 🌵!!! I hope you save it!! I have a similar problem with my Euphorbia cerrida hybrid I made . It had gone into total collapse!! It gets black spots that dry back the tips! I thought it might be fungal. So I used a systemic fungicide on it with no luck. I've taken about 7 cuttings. I'm watching them as they callus to see if they are affected. I took one a month ago. And so far, no sign of trouble. Planted it today. Going to watch it closely. Also I took the remainder of good cuttings today. But I won't plant them for a bit to see if they are affected as they callus. The main plant I took to the greenhouse, as I had it inside all its life, to isolate it and see how this progresses before I destroy it. I will probably incinerate to keep it from spreading to any other Euphorbias. Sad. Very best of luck with that fantasic plant 🤞🤞🤞!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to across the emerald isle, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌷🌴🌸🌿🌻🍀🌾💐🌱🌹🌳🤞😃👍

Hi Lyn, love the video, hope you and Hans are OK. We've had a tough week to be honest, last Wednesday, Valentines Day we sadly had to say goodbye to our cat Jerry 😭😭, he would have been 14 this July, he wasn't well on Tuesday, it was all sudden, anyway we took Jerry to the vets on Wednesday and it was heart failure 😭😭. It's very difficult and heartbreaking, but trying not to be sad, and thinking of happy memories with Jerry. Speak soon, take care, Jane xxx ❤️❤️❤️

Poor lil 🌵 I have seen a bunch a people add worm castings to the top layer for some extra nutrients, and that usually greens them back up. I like to also add crushed seashells into my top dressings (and eventually their soil mix when I change this around) for some added nutrients. The seashells are nice because they are light weight, add a cool sparkle, and they'll slowly dissolve over time when you water. I have the worst luck with opuntia. Spider mites cause all sorts of havoc. The one I banished to outside though seems to be putting on so many buds!... Because I'm bad at most of my cacti don't get a real winter rest because I don't like being cold 😂

Spider mites really are such a pain and cause so much damage to our beloved plants, and Spider mites seem to really love Opuntias too, thats fantastic news your Opuntia you put outside is growing lots of new growth, thats fantastic with the crushed seashells and they add a nice bit of calcium to the soil over time as they break down and dissolve, the worm castings are brilliant too for adding extra nutrients to the soil, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a brilliant new week XXXX

Hello Lyn! So coincidental, that I was having the same problem on one of my cactus! I cut off one tip, today, too! I only had Neem oil to spray on the cut end, as I still need to find sulfur powder. I am new to your channel and just love your videos, tips and tricks. It helps me to understand my own many cacti types. How do you know when the cacti is going into bud. I have heard you say this but you do not explain. Will you help with that? Love your channel and Hansy too. :)
@desertplantsofavalon8 ай бұрын
Hi Annie :-D welcome to my channel, and so happy you love my videos, Cacti buds normally start to show up on cacti in the Spring and you will notice them looking like little bumpy growths coming from the areoles ( the wooly parts of the cactus where the spines come from), they can look like very tiny rose buds or little green bumps that come from near the spines, with the Epiphytic cacti like the Epiphyllums or Holiday Cacti the buds appear along the edges of the leaves, hopefully I will be filming another update video on the cacti in the polytunnel in the next couple of weeks and will show some examples of what cacti look like when they start to come into bud, thanks so much Annie for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Hans and me from across the Emerald Isle XXXX
