Octo Expansion was definitely my favorite. That feeling of living free in the light after escaping something terrible, and also beating it, the feeling of having free will, (and the ability to FINALLY play Octolings) it just melts my heart. Into the light definitely helps with that feeling, and it does make me cry to this day.

For me, nothing is ever going to beat that one minute mark on the Octo Expansion final boss. As soon as I realized what was playing I was instantly in "Oh, I got this" mode. Not to mention, after how utterly brutal the DLC could be, playing through every level without skips and making it to that point felt like a monumental accomplishment. And on top of this, it's a turf war final boss. It's your octoling character's very first turf war. And it's set to one of the best musical tracks to come out of the series. That's how you do a memorable final boss.

It’s gonna be Octo Expansion for me, I can’t get over what it did for Marina and Pearl, and introducing Octolings was a huge deal and huge hype. Like we’ve had Octolings for a while now so people probably don’t remember what it was like before them, but this was the perfect introduction of them and in a way, Agent 8 feels like the true main protagonist of Splatoon 2 to me. And the idea of ending all these difficult trails with the most creative turf war battle ever AND (imo) the best song in the series Fly Octo Fly to reprise of Eb and Flow, it just hits different for me. I love Splatoon 3’s ending too, it was epic and a totally great payoff for the people paying attention to Grizzco in the last game- and of course the soundtrack was fire. I love how much the DJ Octavio sage pays off with him piloting his ship he’s tried countless time to kill you with (AND his contribution to Calimari Inkantation 3mix with those sick beat drops) and the Smallfry turning into Bigfry bit was so amazing. But it just didn’t give me the same feels as Octo Expansion did. I really love all the lore and characterization Octo Expansion gave for Agent 8, Pearl and Marina, and even Cuttlefish who learned to get over his prejudices of Octolings…kind of. But Splatoon isn’t heading in a bad direction imo when it comes to story telling. That’s super exciting and I can’t wait for the DLC for Splatoon 3!

To me it is seems to me that Splatoon 3’s ending was the best. I found that the overall ending with all of the lore and the amazing character moments with the squid sisters Captain 3 and Deep Cut. The way they explain grizzco made total sense. It is definitely a great ending for sure

My favorite was 2's expansion ending. I loved the sections inside NILS, especially the 1v1, that led up to the final fight where you just paint the entire structure, while there is amazing music. 3's was really fun as well, with using specials for one of the sections, and the first phase of the Mr. Grizz which was really cool, especially when he rolls around to make a maze-like section.

I legitimately felt betrayed by Mr.Grizz. When the remix of the GrizzCo theme started playing and gradually got more complex with each phase, it set in for me. All this time I was tricked into helping him with his evil plan. I felt angry and betrayed. I thought something along the lines of "I trusted you... even started to like you as a boss... AND THIS IS THE THANKS I GET!? HOW DARE YOU?!" I think that is a part of what kept me going during the boss fight. I also was angry with him for what he did to Captain Cuddlefish, believe me, I'm almost never an angry person, I guess that shows how deeply Grizz emotionally hurt me. The story for Splatoon 3 was really good. I have not been that captivated by a video game's story since Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door. Sorry for spewing all this on you guys.

From a story perspective, octo expansion was my favorite, from a music perspective I thought that that wave goodbye was absolutely beautiful. I think that deep cut was overshadowed a little since they where the all that present (and the dlc will most likely be about off the hook.)

Splatoon 1's final boss is still incredibly solid gameplay-wise and I love the spectacle we get in Splatoon 3 fighting Mr. Grizz jn space, but Octo Expansion has the best ending overall for me. The way the story is framed feels personal in a way that I really like with your goal being to escape and you taking down the entity that held you and countless others captive, agent 3 is such a fun and creative boss fight, and I love the way the final part is framed as a giant turf war to save the world (complete with a beam clash as the judging section plays out and the good guys vs bad guys gag coming full circle). Oh and all the music for that sequence is fantastic, every track that play is such a banger

I think the endings for octo expansion and splatoon 3 hit me so much harder because of the way they set up the final fight You've got this big threat, time is running out, but you've got badass ladies on your side cheering you on with the power of music I cant listen to fly octo fly or calamari 3 mix without a wave of emotion overcoming me and i tear up because while the lyrics are jibberish, you can FEEL the meaning behind it

Nothing will ever beat Octo Expansion for me. The story telling, the characterization, the design, the music... Everything. It was perfect, and as someone who's been a fan from the release of Splatoon 1, and always desperately wanted more info on the octolings, it waa everything I wanted and more. The ending battle made me cry, I'll never forget how excited and happy it made me.

All four of these endings are bangers and it's so hard to pick a favorite, but Octo Expansion is one of my favorite "games" of all time (ig Splatoon 2 in general is put there) and man it definitely delivered on the ending. 1 felt very unique and did something other boss fights didn't really do as far as atmosphere 2 kicked it up with the story and presented the best Calamari Inkantation (yeah I said it. 3Mix was just ok imo) 3 went absolutely wild with my only critique being that several plot elements felt very rushed at the end and should've been spaced out more but man Octo Expansion just did everything right, including adding so much meaning to the character of Agent 8. They're fighting to not only clear the Octoling race's stigma of guilt in this conflict, but also fighting for a world they've never even seen but long to participate in, finally being able to watch the sunset after taking down the ultimate threat to cephalopod life. I can't stress enough how satisfied I am with each and every one of these endings and I can NOT wait for what the DLC will hold.

Return of the Mammalians was great, but Octo Expansion was what proved that Splatoon’s single player-campaigns can actually be engaging and more than just a casual little something that’s tacked on. - Eight is the most fleshed out protagonist we’ve ever gotten in the series to date. Not only are they the first playable character to have a first person camera view, but there’s a whole lot of insight from all the poems they write for the Mem cakes. It feels like they’re speaking real dialogue through subtle means. - Marina’s Chat Room gave us more moments in between with Pearl and Marina that expand on their characters and reveal things that we haven’t actually heard before. There’s a real, actual form of authentic engagement between characters instead of just the occasional snarky commentary and the bits of text we get from pressing the A button near a character. - The story is just so much more engaging overall. Rather than just a simple affair of falling into a grate and being told to save the world, we get a tale of an Octopus girl who’s lost all of their memories, longs to reach the surface and uncovers a closeted conspiracy about a genocidal telephone running an operation where living creatures have their bodies blended into green sludge, which is then pumped and injected into other living creatures to “sanitize” them of their free will, and used to power a weapon of mass destruction, all in the name of humanity. Eight nearly ended up being blended into that very same sludge, and Three even experienced the process of sanitization with their mind hijacked by a translucent, green tentacle. When all is said and done, we get to look at the sunset as the credits roll, and celebrate the victory of finally reaching the surface. If Nintendo can only provide us with an engaging form of storytelling in Splatoon through DLC, then I’m willing to jump on that train.

Too be honest, if there's a ending that did it best, I gotta say commander Tartar steals the show, He manipulated over 10K+ species of octolings before 10,008 and killed them, I don't know, villain material. Then he decides to commit mass genocide against the inkling/octoling race by sweeping it up with the classic giant contraption. I gotta say, Mr Grizz carried it on with his own cup of tea too! He also manipulated a bunch of his "workers" into a rocket ship to destroy earth and almost 60%+ of the worlds covered in fur, but yeah, I'm sitting with commander Tartar.

My favorite ending over all was the octo expansion. Even if I didn't play splatoon 1, fighting agent 3 along with the amazing soundtrack and first ever cut scene work we've seen for the splatoon series, just gave me the best experience I could possibly have with this game. especially as a fan since 2015 who to this day is still upset they never got to experience the first and second game in their prime, as I didn't have the game soon enough to play any of the splatfests other than the reruns in splatoon 2. This game, especially the octo expansion will always have a soft spot in my heart. When I finally beat octo expansion, I will tell you I cried so hard, not only bc I was proud of myself, or because it was over. It was because of the experience.

3 had a more engaging and mechanically solid fight at the end and also the more over-the-top approach, but OE definitely had the more threatening villain and the more gritty atmosphere definitely supported the tension. Seeing the real outside world for the first time was also a great moment. I prefer the gauntlet of OE more as well, stuff like the inkjet section was extremely memorable. Overall I have to give it to OE but 3 definitely has a lot over it, mainly the Grizz boss being a lot more complex and enjoyable from a gameplay perspective than Agent 3/Tartar's cannon. 3's ending isn't bad at all though. It's quite fantastic actually

Splatoon 3s ending is the best one in my opinion because you get to play as a inkling or octoling and you save the whole world for crying out loud and its a mixture of splatoon 1 and splatoon 2 and octo exspainsion with its own story. I also love the music in splatoon 3. Octo exspainsion wins second place for me.

For me, Octo Expansion of my fav, as most people here, mostly due to the music. For Splatoon 3, was nearly there, though was missing some parts, as for the final part of mr grizz fight, with the color changing of the space when the player is losing time to stop it, kind of reminds me of Sonic Adventure 2 with its final boss (Final Hazard). Overall, they are fun to go through, hoping with the dlc for Splatoon 3 can top Octo Expansion

My favorite part of the Splatoon Series is where the calamari inkantation song has changes through each game and becomes more hype, from a hip hop electric genre to more festival like and ambient electric. Besides the storyline and the endings i believe the splatoon 2 and it’s Octo Expansion are the best games with the best endings. I wish I would have recorded it playing to understand the whole story and cast my favorite on the entire series. But it is what it is, no denying that splatoon 2 is the best game so far. Hopefully splatoon 3 and it’s dlc can change up the game in the future. You never know, but the more you know, the more you will enjoy.

In splatoon 2 story mode when you fight DJ Octavio there is a secret dialog when Marie says cali why did you put those glasses back on? and cali replies with I don’t know they looked cool.

What's funny is you said the splatoon 2 Octavio battle is like a concert but in the lore of the games the final battles of Splatoon 1&2 were believed to be concerts for the Octarian troops they thought it was all a performance akin to Medieval Times in fact that's what got Marina to defect she thought she was at a concert heard the Calamari Inkantation and left.

in terms of enemy AI, you have to set a limiter on the AI's "intelligence", and vary the strength of the limiter based on how strong or "smart" you want an AI to be. Well, unless you want something that's literally impossible. For example, in the Octo Expansion, Inner Agent 3 has this limiter almost removed. I say _almost_ even though he's incredibly hard because it has to be possible to actually beat him.

In my opinion? Octo expansion. It was not only different than the last 2 splatoon games,but when you spend so much time in the underground,learning about the octoling through agent 8 and the kamabo corporation and just how horrible it was,the sense of freedom and life was just what we needed,also while inkopolis is a pretty cool hub,i think only octo expantion made the city to actually be beautiful
