For anybody still struggling on Shifting Sand Land (and vertical jumps in general) here's a few things that helped me. First of all there is an alternative input for upwards cappy throws, this is A(jump)+X(throw). Even though it's the same number of inputs I find this to be easier because my thumb can press both buttons instead of two thumbs That being said for SSL my input/technique was as follows 1. get the box and go the top. I recommend getting rid of the shy guy and the bird with the star as they can get in the way. You can jump on the shy guy and you can also knock the bird out of the way. 2. Once done position your box so it's facing the left side of the pyramid (right should also work but I used left). I consider this to be the side with the other box, the pokey and the water. You can line this up however you wish. 3. When ready, hold B and A to use the 3 jumps the box gives you. At the peak of your third jump break out of the box 4. Do your first vertical jump, your input for this will be RT (Break out), B (attack), A+X (upwards throw), B, RT+B (Dive), do NOT use any forward input when doing this. 5. After you do your first vertical jump immediately turn to the left and do your second one with B, A+X, B, RT+B. 6. You can use spins to help but don't forget when doing a spin your cap throw turns into a cap spin not just a throw

ok found the easiest way to beat shifting sand land "open up the pyramid with the 4 pillars so the top open up, hold b at the base of the pyramid, hold off on using the second jump ,then once you hit the summit get the highest point before the tip of it explode to get the star

For Bowser in the Sky, I don't have the Pink Gold Star challenge shown in the video. The one I have is to get 75 coins in under a minute which is super difficult. In fact, my version doesn't have any no A presses challenges.

Considering the date on this video, it's very likely that the challenges have changed since then. My best recommendation to you is to make sure you're using the homing attack to collect the rings and lines of coins. I would find a fast pattern to collect all the red coins. Don't forget there's several coins under the seesaw portion, which you can actually reach from the beginning of the level if you give a good jump from the top of the moveable box. Weirdly enough, the Pink Gold Stars were actually created as a "Beginner Friendly Crystal Star Set". They are definitely still challenging for sure, but a lot easier from what the standard used to be.

There are some hints in signs that are located in each of the levels, but there are some missions that do not have the signs. In harder missions such as the crystal stars, the hints become a lot more vague.

Any tips for how to beat Bowser?

Sure, here's some stuff I can think of: 1. When he throws the bombs, make sure to use your homing attack to easily capture one. (Pressing the D-pad) 2. For the fire ring shockwave attack, get into a rhythm with jumping between the flames. Notice how I was skipping one space each time, and it kept me in a solid pattern. 3. The purple fire works by tracing how fast you're moving to catch you running into them. You can manipulate this by walking away from Bowser while he's firing them to have him shoot them in a straight line, and then just moving out to the side. 4. For the jump rope attack, remember that the further away from Bowser you are, the more delayed the response is to him turning. The best way to see what I mean is by analyzing how I do the fight in the video. I hope that these little tips help you to defeat him!

The way it was performed, at least back when I played it, was by pushing down on your joystick to initiate a spin, and then jumping with A. If you're stuck, try and have a look at the keybinding settings.

I don't think there's any significant prize for completing the Crystal Stars that I'm aware of in the version I was playing (Please correct me if I'm wrong). But, It did allow you to use other characters and cheats while crystal stars and pink gold stars were active.

I haven't heard this one before. Technically there's only one 'kick' since the second one is more like a 'little twirl', which is the one after the cap throw. If I didn't get your comment correct, feel free to respond again with the correction.

Try to slow down your technique. By pressing each input at the peak height of each move, you should end up getting higher than by doing it quickly.

It is a very difficult Pink Gold Star for sure. Something that helped me obtain it is jumping out of the box at the VERY peak of its highest jump, and slowing down the second vertical jumping technique slightly to maximize height. Don't worry about it, I know you'll get it eventually!

I've had this comment before, I'm really not sure if they changed the mission and ridded the "extra high jump". But, if you're having trouble getting from the side of his head to the top, you should be able to bring a spindrift up there (one of those flowery guys) and jump on its head as the snowman to gain more height. I performed exactly that in my Crystal Stars video if you want to see a reference. Let me know if this helps!

The Render96 modpack allows you to change your character if you collect all the hidden keys in each stage for Luigi, and hidden coins in each secret stage for Wario. Or at least the version I was playing.

You should be able to capture a spindrift, and jump on its head for a jump boost while capturing the snowman. Hopefully this helps?

They may have patched the "extra high jump". I'm not really sure if that's the case but, if you're having trouble getting from the side of his head to the top, bring a spindrift up there and jump on its head as the snowman. I performed exactly that in my Crystal Stars video.

If you press the crouch button under water, mario will do a flip as a part of a ground pound. If you press and hold the attack button while mario is flipping, you will initiate the swim dash.

Honestly, I was just told how to initiate those missions. Tbh even I would agree it is pretty out-there. Though, I believe that they hint these stars in the more recent versions with a sign in the level. Not sure how they'd accomplish that with the Aquarium though.

@@FastMario Oddly there's a sign at the start of the stage in Jolly Roger when it's flooded, but it's not readable because it's underwater? I wonder if the sign for the Aquarium might be in Snowman's Land itself and I just never noticed it. EDIT: You can read it with the Metal Cap, still no clue where the clue for the Aquarium would be hidden.

That is kind of odd, I'm not quite sure what to make of that. From mine and other's experiences you should be allowed to press buttons after the star has spawned. Perhaps you pressed a button between crossing the finishline and when the star spawned?

From previous comments and testing, if you turn off "Assist Mode" in the settings that fully prevents you from using the buttons you aren't supposed to, I'm pretty sure that will fix it. Let me know!

From what I remember, hitting the D-pad on your controller (The C buttons for N64), will have cappy do a homing attack to any nearby enemies or coins. If the coins are in a ring or line, it will automatically collect them all. Let me know if you have any further trouble.

Are you using PCBuilder or just the downloads in the description? If the first (recommended), it's likely there might have been a composition error, and I would recommend you to create a new build. Make sure you have everything installed including MSYS2 when you do. Unfortunately I have never encountered this issue before. If it continues to have issues, you can seek out the official OMM Discord server or PCPort server for additional support. If the second, perhaps the links just don't work anymore, and I apologize about that.

Ah. I think I know what you mean. After the cannon, I make it to a cloud, and I cut the jump I made to get back to the main cloud. I believe I used the Vertical Jump Technique I showed in the tutorial portion of the video to get up, but if you want an extra boost, you can start by jumping on top of the cap box, and then start your jump from there.

I've also got another problem, I use a mousepad and not an actual mouse, I don't have a scroll wheel and since spin is mapped to that, I can't spin whenever I want and I have to take in the time to actually spin around. And as far as I know, I can't remap any buttons.

Did you miss breaking one of the small boxes by chance? There's one in the front of the fortress and one in the back by the "Shoot into the Wild Blue" star. That's my best guess. Otherwise, make sure you capture AND defeat ever whomp, and if you're absolutely stuck, capture a bullet bill and fly it into the blue thwomps for 5 coins each. (That's supposed to be in Crystal Stars only but, you can still use it).

By jumping on a Whomp's back in the OG game and the mod, you could earn up to 5 coins. The same thing could be done by capturing it. Glad you got that resolved!
