The thing is, a lot of cards have actually dropped a lot in price recently because things have been reprinted. Doubling season used to be a $100 card and now you can find it for like $20 because it got reprinted. I've had a lot of cards tank the same way over the last couple years just cause there's a lot of stuff that's being run again like the swords and land tax

@@underscore____4060 that's always a good thing... i never understood how a single card could be sold for so much money. it's one of the things that shocked me most since coming back to the game. The fact that decks can cost even several hundred dollars is just so weird. I guess it probably was the same back when i first started playing, but being a kid back then i really didn't care much about buying singles

@@riccardozanoni2531 Much as I like not having to pay a million dollars to deckbuild, there are downsides to it. Plus if money's an issue, most people just proxy anything expensive. A lot of people who buy cards do so to resell them later, whether because that's what they do exclusively or because they picked up cards that're just not what they're looking for. When the value of those cards tanks like this, people know that there's less chance that they're gonna get money back on their investment if they open packs of cards for like $5 apiece. So less cards are gonna be sold there. And then on top of that there's already a lot of buyer fatigue because of how many sets have been coming out recently. And that's not including the fact that there's a lot of people who're probably upset that wizards just tanked a lot of their collection's value. Wizards is causing a lot of problems for themselves lately and the other half of it is the power creep that you're seeing at a lot of games, as old powerful cards become more available and newer more powerful cards are printed at faster and faster rates, even things that aren't reprinted are quickly being outmoded.

A Xavier Sal deck! No way! It's the most toxic pile of edhrec cards known to man, but it's still Xavier Sal, so... yay?
