Fascinating video! I have the deepest admiration for all the incredible work put in by this large team of specialists. The patience displayed in some of the work was mind-blowing. Thumbs up to the Turner's House Trust for letting us watch the process in restoring the house to its former glory.

A beautiful restoration by the many craftsmen and women who are not mentioned in the credits. Why are you Brits like this, all the public glory to the toffs who raise the money, and no acknowledgment to those who put their hearts, minds, and souls into the the actual material presence of the glorious building.

Congratultions to the perseverance of the Trustees. So Proud, that people still exist to preserve our Nations fineness artists homes, such as Turner's in Twickenham. By superb artisans, for whom I have the highest regard. An elderly English Lady who had spent her youth in and about Hanworth Twickenham Richmond and Kew. Now living in France. Thankyou for a wonderful hour spent among you all.

What a wonderful documentary. Delicately done and beautifully detailed. I love the recounting of all the trades and their importance... the brick work, the lime render, the moulds made, the wall paper, the paint colours, the dismantling of the stained glass sky light ... what a cornucopia of talents!

A beautiful little house and a beautiful job filming the restoration process . I have no doubt that Mr. Turner would be pleased with his house if he could see it now .

🌀Perhaps the sacrificial lime render was to keep the water out of the brickwork. There won't be cavities in the brickwork. So it would have been prone to dampness. The lime mortar in the brickwork, "breathing" would have helped with dampness.

How strange! (@ 43:00) There's a scene that Ken Howard is painting... and I happen to have a tiny carved wooden half-bucket that hangs on the wall (a few inches tall) with THAT EXACT SCENE painted on it's side! It was my mother's ... she went to school in Switzerland in the 1920s. A bit of a shock to see it come to life. It's that exact scene from that vantage point.

The picture they found looks like Father Christmas, not biblical. Such a lovely sympathetic restoration. I wish Americans cared as much about preserving their historical sites.

The debate/study as to whether the house was stuccoed during Turners residence, is surely a more substantial no, given the strong evidence the brick projections shown in the early picture were not covered

Amazing work. But, wasn’t the house originally in a white render not exposed brick? Or did i miss something?

Great for Turner fans and architecture/conservation fans . WARNING LOUD TOOL NOISES mixed in with sedate voices. Subtitles are a good idea: wearing earphones is definitely a bad idea.

Wonderful restoration no doubt, the skill and patience that have gone into this work is wonderful. The end product of the outer walls does not however match the painting that was used to see how the house originally looked. Could the house have originally been painted outside, making it appear more akin to the original artwork used possibly if it was not actually rendered. In any case a great job by all concerned. Thanks for this.
