Everyone please remember there are so many soldiers & veterans suffering. They may seem fine, they be silent, they may change completely. They may drink or do anything to numb the pain. To escape the hell of fear, pain & loss replaying over & over in their minds. Such deep trauma may hit immediately or after years. But remember they fought for us. They are those we love. We can’t understand their pain but we can be there to support them. Love them and give them strength when all they feel is weakness, pain and sorrow. We lose to many good men & women to addiction and suicide after they managed to survive hell in war. Please don’t give up on them.

The sounds he was making during the withdrawals and the way he started begging for just one more was very real sounding, and as someone who's had loved ones suffer from addiction of all types my protector instinct kicked into high gear. Every time he said just one all I could think of was holding him tight and telling him no.
