I’ve seen a few comments about the noise. We have a Caravelle that also made a strange noise in the rear, but turned out the be wind blowing on the drivers microphone either from an open window or open air vent pointing in this direction, because in the infotainment system there’s voice enhancement setting that allows you to talk to the the rear passengers through the speakers, but it was picking up the wind noise was playing through the rear speakers instead. 20:51

They're good cars, quite comfortable and lots of space. I think the spatial awareness thing is something you get used to over just a few drives. Since the bonnet is so short, and the car being so boxy helps with getting used to. My dad had a 1992, 1998, a 2003 and a 2008 Caravelle through the years. It was just after the kids moved out that he bought a smaller one. Great cars.
@DAVEYBOYG7 Жыл бұрын
14:17 the noise when you have the windows down is a microphone above the drivers sun shade which plays sound through the rear speakers. It’s called something like voice assistance in the sound menu. The idea is it amplifies your voice so those in the back can hear you. This solves the problem you mention at 19:00. Just need to play around with the level in the menu

We had a T6 CARAVELLE executive and had the same issue when the drivers window was open, it came down to the microphone above the driver that is designed to amplify the drivers voice in the back, so it is just effectively amplifying the wind noise through the speakers! Another cool thing to note is that the rear bench seat will fold flat into a bed if ever you need it!

Obviously its different in different countries, but for us this never was a problem. My family (parents and us kids) is driving Multivans for yeeaaars without problems. For sure, given the fact, that the Multivan/Caravelle is just long and wide it wont fit in every parking space. But for its size I'd say it fits in more, than small cars if that makes sense. also since its turning on the spot, narrow parking lots aren't a problem. One thing you can however just forget is parallel park in a single slot, when there are cars parked in fornt and in the back...

I have a T6, I’ve owned it for about 5 years. Like you, I have 3 children under 10, but my ‘van’ is set out as a Kombi, that is 3 seats up front and 3 seats in the back. The van has been a god send, my children were 2, 4, and 6 when I bought it and as you know 3 x Isofix car seats are impossible side by side in most family cars. My wife drives mine with ease, yours will adapt apart from maybe a McDonalds drive through where I normally take over to save my 20” alloys. As a young family you can put prams/buggy in without collapsing them which is amazing on a rainy school run in the morning. It really stops you getting soaked whilst putting them in their seats. As a daily driver, it’s probably the best type of vehicle if you have 3 or, ahem 4 children 😂😂😂. In my street of less than 40 houses there are 5 Transporters, they are the ultimate family vehicle. There are many more in our small village. The Caravelle is so good as one of you can sit in the back with the children when they get older and start scrapping 😳😳😳 Mine is remapped to do over 600 miles to a full tank ( which at todays prices costs £90 ish ) which is known as the 600 club, the bhp is approx 150/160 which makes it quite nippy.

Your tyre pressure warning code to fix it inflate your tyres to the specified PSI / Bar and use the obd scanner and under maintenance to rest the sensors don’t do it via the driver dashboard as it doesn’t always work, if that doesn’t work you need a TPMS tool to reprogram them and this process has to be started by holding push to start button on the vehicle for 10 seconds, I don’t know how it’s done if you’ve got a key and barrel to start the vehicle and it must be done every time a wheel is changed or moved from front to back, your spare tyre won’t have a TPMS module, if this is fitted to the vehicle the warning light will come on, only use your spare in absolute emergencies to get one with the sensor repaired and reset the module after refitting

Well done on finishing the project! The aircon compressor unit on these cars is constantly engaged so driving with an empty system ruins the compressor. Not only compressor needs to be changed but the whole line needs to be cleaned from the abrasive material created. I really hope it didn't get to that stage while you made a little trip. Regarding the intercom - I'd start first with proper sound insulation (including wheel arches and engine partition). I did this in my T6 and it made a big difference. You could go even further by installing double-glazed windows from the Cali models. Having said that, VW did offer intercom as an option on these cars so it could even be possible to fit the original intercom unit. I have 3 kids and we never switched back once we bought the T6. It's just so comfortable. For the boot try t look at multiflex-board type of shelves that are available. This is one of the first things people install in their T5-T6.

Had a long-wheelbase '98 T4, and it was partly amazing and partly horrible. The amazing part was the space, the ability to pull our caravan with absolutely no issue, and the very nice cruise control. The horrible part was that it was a fairly low-spec one with the cheapest seats, which do hurt after some hours, it was quite long (>5m) so parking was a challenge, it didn't have ABS, and the front suspension parts have an expected lifetime of about two to three years, which is why we eventually sold it. Oh, and it was a tax-saving five-seater with a massive boot. Meh. Got a 2004 Touran (7-seater, yeah!) which did have the same very nice cruise control, an engine that had about the same specs as the one in the Caravelle, although it was a four-cylinder 1.9l one instead of the Caravelle's five-cylinder 2.5l. But even if the papers said 100hp and 250Nm of torque, driving with a caravan was very different, as it never could quite pull it uphill the same way the Caravelle did, you had to go to higher RPM and go a gear lower where the Caravelle just pulled through. Also, while the unloaded fuel consumption of the Touran is quite a bit lower than the Caravelle's (which isn't surprising, since the Caravelle is just a bigger box, and it weighs about 300kg more), the Caravan made it use even a bit more fuel. I didn't see that coming.
