EPIC. Actually, Nal_Ra did use his Dark Archon. At 1:32, he used Feedback to kill one of Savior's last remaining Defilers. Very sharp -and critical- micro by him. Loved it! Thanks, Cholera.

Oh my, that was awesome. Nal Ra's pylon play at the end was perfect and the build up in the middle all game as well as the just micro of both made this game insane. However, the micro near the end by Savior was lacking some but, it was just a desperate push to the end, I don't think any less of him whatsoever. And its only the first game.

Nal_ra did use his archon for somethin though, you can see that when he moves his main force to reinforce the 10-11 acklock position, you can see him using feedback on a defiler on the cliff=)

Yup, exactly. And since defiler had lots of energy, it died instantly.

Queens are considered to be micro inefficient. Plus, ensnare and spawn broodlings both cost minerals to upgrade, and the queens obviously cost mins to build, not to mention the fact that SAviOr's army was maxed, so each queen meant one less hydra. What he really needed were a few mutas to chase down that probe at the end, but SAviOr probably didn't anticipate the game would come down to that. If he had had 2 mutas, though, he would've won, because the probe would've died and the pylon, too.

You know, I think that the Dark Archon had no abilities researched. It was just a bluff to prevent full frontal confrontation with Savior's main force plus it made some use of the remaining dark templars.

Queens sounds like the perfect counter for mass archon really, pretty hard to catch without an airforce. By this point it's too late obviously, but a little earlier they could have overturned Nal_Ra's advantage.

yep feeback converts the amount of energy into damage. so if the defiler has 50 energy and 75 health the spell will leave him with 25 health. im not 100% sure that this is exacly how it works, but it is something like that, maybe someone can confirm peace

Not a fair comparison. Zero executed a brilliant timing attack with broodlings, but it was essentially cheese, and certainly not a build you will expect to win very often. The idea was to catch Bisu just as he was getting HTs. Normally Zerg can't do this because they are teching to hive and the templar can hold back the lings, but Zero held back on hive tech and instead produced queens as a surprise tactic. On the other hand, this was an elimination race, so queens couldn't be used in that way.

Oh, didn't know 'bout the reavers. But ZvT? Sniping tanks, and also broodling-bombing nearby units, making them take splash dmg from tanks. Could that be viable in late late late game?

But broodling doesn't affect archons, and ensnare doesn't significantly slow their attack speed. At the same time, feedback would easily destroy the queens, or at least cripple them and take away all their energy. I don't think queens are overall a great decision in almost any situation except vs. mass sairs.

Can anyone explaine why spawn broodlings is so out of the picture in a soon-to-be-outmined game? You have unlimited and quite safe (due to the queen's nice speed) snipes of enemy units. I think the reason might be that the queen is ONLY good at just that, and it's better to spend time practising stuff like zergling micro.

The point was that he could follow the probe and eventually kill it, not stop it from making the pylon in the first place. It's not hard to kill a pylon once you know where it is. Not that I'm blaming sAviOr or anything; I just think it's too bad he didn't have any mutas left.

Perhaps; they certainly are more effective versus templar than versus archons. But I think there's a reason you rarely (almost never) see queens used this way PvZ. The queens are very fragile and their abilities are rarely game-changing like the defilers'. Researching broodlings also creates an additional investment, and the ability generally will kill only one unit per queen, which barely breaks even on resources. I won't say queens are never worthwhile, but I think in the pros they rarely are.

why didn't savior make some air units? nal ra didn't have any air units or even dragoons. Could have sniped those dropships with mutas and scourges and used guardians to wipe out everything else. Could have continued dancing with his ultras to get nal ra to waste his storms too.

probe was in a shuttle... probe wouldnt have died even IF he had 2 mutas... kuz it still takes 5 hits to take out a maxed probe with 2 maxed mutas. and its 5 hits IF savior wasted a ton of mins on air upgs which it shows he didn't. (guards were at 0 0 )
