This is the BEST song. Her vocals totally make it what it is. Bad decision it was to screw Shontay over and boot her out the band. When this song came out, the blend of the two vocalists had a very original sound. They influenced some other bands who brought female vocalists into metal or post hardcore. It feels calm but edgy at the same time. Very few bands had this unique style then.

Female vocalists combined with harsh male vocals have been in metal since the early 90s. There was a whole genre of this that was popular from roughly 95 to about 2005 or so. Maybe this was just the first MTV friendly band to do it, but Doom, Death, Black, and Goth metal bands have been at it for 30 years.

I could relate to this, during my mom’s second marriage. They would fight so much that I would have panic attacks. I couldn’t sleep, wishing I was somewhere else or dead. Pretty sure this song is about the one person that messed up your life so much that you can't sleep.
