Simply excellent instructions, illustrations, editing and camera work! I've watched a number of YT videos that try and explain this continuous bias binding method, but didn't' get excited about using it -- Until today. :-) I'm very impressed with your clear instructions for several reasons. 1) using the tailor's chalk of a contrasting color to mark the lines vs. pencil lines that don't show as clearly in lots of other videos I've seen on YT; 2) Your illustration with the paper made it crystal clear where we should place raw edges of fabric and line up the lines of where to cut; 3) also using the paper to show more specifically how the two edges of raw fabric should meet before sewing that somewhat awkward or difficult to maneuver seam around the tube you pinned together. You made this method be doable and more enjoyable for me and I can see from the comments, many others. As a less experienced sewist than you, I think I'll use sizing or spray starch and iron the piece of fabric before marking the lines so the fabric isn't too floppy for me when sewing the seam. Additionally, for 100% cotton quilting fabric, I might use the tiniest dabs of basting glue in a few places to line up the raw edges of the fabric to the appropriate lines before sewing that difficult seam and then gently pull the seam allowance apart from the glue up to the stitching before finger pressing or ironing the seam open. Hopefully I'll have a little practice on this method before doing it without the basting glue on whatever limited binding yardage I might have for a larger project. Thanks so much!
