Bonjour Alexa ! One tool I use to remember the difference between the two words is the term "savoir faire." I first heard this term -- which to me, means that French people know how to do things with style -- as a very young child. Your explanation also helps. Merci ! Bisou bisou !

Knowing this in French helps English speakers learn Spanish because "saber" and "conocer" are used exactly the same way. Sé que Tom está en Francia. Sé nadar. Sé contar. Sé cocinar. @art music and animation with akshat Born near Niagara Falls, Ontaria, Canada/New York, I have lived in Mexico for more than a decade. I speak, read, and write English and Spanish fluently (CEFR > C1). French, I have a little over a year, and I can now read, write, and speak; however, I lack vocabulary, and I wouldn't be able to understand the "slurred/rapid" French at speed. Prof. Alexa has several vids on how "Fast" French sounds. That is troublesome for me; however, with proper diction and at a normal French rate, I understand most of what is said.

My faves are the sentences that mean the same thing but use diff verbs. Je connais son adresse. Je sais où il habite. Je sais qui chante. Je connais le chanteur. Je connais les enjeux de cette réunion. Je sais ce qui est en jeu dans cette réunion. Je connais votre détermination à faire une différence. Je sais que vous êtes déterminé à faire la différence. Je sais de quel sexe est le bébé.- Je connais le sexe du bébé.

Bonjour Alexa, Merci pour votre temps.Est facile apprendre avec toi et tes vidéos sont très instructives ,mais j'ai un petit difficulté pour faire les questions avec Savoir e Connaître, pouvez vous aider moi avec un video ou explication? N'importe quoi, "presque" toutes les façons de poser des questions sont difficiles, (Sorry) Il y a dans le Francais quelques mots que sont ou ils se montre un peu confus quand notre intention est demander. Un petit example: In english first - Ex.1- Do you know her? Ex.2- Do you know what the result is? je pense que: Do you know her? can be like that in French "Connaissez la vous?" et Do you know what the result is? can be like: " Savez vous quel est le résultat?" Je suis incertain à ce sujet...

Hello Alexa, can you please tell me if I should use SAVOIR or CONNAITRE when I say " I know the date of the American Independence". Because I heard some French speakers use SAVOIR, and some use CONNAITRE and it confuses me. Thanks in advance :)

Here, "SAVOIR" would be clumsy. So you would use "CONNAITRE" : je connais la date de l'indépendance de l'Amérique"
