I'm pretty sure the second half of Finale of Devastation should resolve eventhough no legal targets are left for the first half, seeing as the spell say "up to three". It can be 0 target creatures.

From Gatherer’s rule entry on Finale of Eternity: 5/3/2019 You may cast Finale of Eternity without choosing any target creatures. If X is 10 or more, you’ll just return all creature cards from your graveyard to the battlefield. However, if you choose any targets and all of those targets become illegal before the spell tries to resolve, the spell won’t resolve and you won’t put any cards onto the battlefield.

I gotta say mono black decks are exremely frustrating to watch/play against after a certain amount of turns, only due to the Cabal lands and the infinite removal in the form of Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, single target removals and board wipes. You can make a mono black deck, just throw in all the good black cards with no win cons and I guarantee that you will win a surprising amount of times.

How come Yawgmoth's Vile Offering still resolved the 2nd half of the ability (destroying up to one creature or planeswalker) when its target was made illegal, but the Finale of Eternity did not resolve the 2nd half when its targets were made illegal?

When Ben casts living death at 13:41, why does Max keep his treasure keeper at first (only to sacrifice it to the dictate trigger afterwards)? Shouldn't it have been sacrificed to the living death, since it was on his board when that was cast?

Also I think Max forgot that Tezzeret gives his creatures affinity for artifacts so battlesphere should've only been 1 mana or so

You can cast the spell without any targets and the secondary effect will happen if x is 10 or more, but if you have chosen targets and all targets become illegal the spell fizzles.

Didnt Ben get Emrakul out on the end step? Meaning why didn't he kill Martin with it on his turn before Martin stole his It that betrays and wins How? Also how would geths ability steal savra? If it would change zones, Ben can put her in the command zone. So if geth attempted to take her, that would change zones from yard to field and he could instead put her in c zone?

I've got no clue why max kept swinging his ground creatures at everyone except andrew early on, when andrew had nothing to block with, and everyone else did. Just throwing his creatures away and what, hoping they'd trade?

*EDIT* Looks like we did play it correctly. Thanks T Sho! I think you're right. In hindsight that might have been a mistake we made, but thankfully I don't think it changed the outcome all that much. Just made the game go a bit longer?
