I passed my exam today!!! Thank you sooooo much for all your wonderful videos! For those studying for the ASWB masters exam, here is exactly what I did to pass on the first try: 1. Watched almost every Savvy Social Work video on this channel! This was essential in order for me to learn how to read the questions, how to interpret the questions, and how the creators of the exam want us to think! 2. I read through the Dawn Apgar study book! The first time I read it, I read every single word of all the content and then highlighted what I didn’t know or wanted to review again. The second time I read through it I only focused on what I highlighted! 3. I took the ASWB practice exam! I very much recommend this as the ASWB exam has questions that were most similar to what can be found on the exam! After I took the practice exam, I then learned what I needed to study some more so consulted more Savvy SW videos and reread parts of the Apgar book again! In total, I spent two months studying for the exam and studied roughly 3-4 days a week! I personally feel like if I studied any longer than 2 months, I would start to forget important content and just stress myself out too much! One last thing! I did not think the MSW pocket prep app was helpful at all! In fact, that app showed that I only answered 70% of the questions correct by the end of my studying which decreased my confidence. I ended up being fine for the exam since the exam is less fact heavy as the pocket prep app! Good luck to all those who are studying! You are in good hands studying with these videos!

Not sure if this is still active, but I watched a few of your videos and it was probably the most helpful thing I’ve used by far. You were coaching me in my head while I was taking the exam, I got my LMSW today! Thank you!

“Nope!! We don’t do that up in here. That’s what the other people teach. I don’t teach that first” This stood out to me because for a long time, I was always going with the Acronym and going with answers that focused on acknowledging feelings as my first choice. It would work with their practice questions, but would hit a wall with others. It’s not until NOW is see the light on knowing how to breakdown and answer these questions properly and not with one method that is sometimes flawed which is going straight to Acronyms!! Great Stuff Savvy 💪🏾

Coming back here to thank you. Just passed my exam on the first try. I got so many questions wrong while studying with you. But during the test I heard your voice and I was scratching and pausing right through. You and Ray need to do a dual video because having black voices in this space was so helpful to me. It felt like I was being taught by a friend. Hope you're okay and thank you for everything! I also have a bunch of study materials if you are interested. I have a bunch of questions from the apps and internet I've collected. Thanks again. See you in 3000 hours for my LCSW!

Kimberley thanks so much for your breakdown and support. On Q12…I didn’t think a school social worker needed consent as she is apart of the school system. That threw me off. I also don’t have school experience. Thanks for the breakdown.

Thanks so much for your continues work and supporting us all! I really enjoyed the video and learned a ton. Question #4 confused me a bit. The question already stated that she wanted to Boost her self confidence at work aka "what she hopes to attain from this behavioral change" and the planning stage to me sounds more like the pre action phase aka collaboratively and respecting clients determination will look into classes (planning phase which in it of itself boost confidence by demonstrating to the client how to seek out resources they need in life) that can help build your self-esteem at work... would love to hear your thoughts for more clarity..again, thanks sooo much!

In most cases yes, but in this case I think because he expressed that he recently lost his wife. I dont think it would be ethical to not show empathy and compassion first before starting the MSE.

For Q2, it wasn't clear why iPTSD was the right answer because the one-month criteria would classify for Acute Stress Disorder.
@jelieajardine1564Ай бұрын
Acute stress disorder timeframe is WITHIN 1 month or less, whereas PTSD's timeframe is 1 month or more which is what was highlighted within Q2! Hope this helps :)

To my understanding, the distinction is that it happened as a result of a traumatic experience rather than any stressful event
