In my opinion; As far as using the back rests for 90 degree alignment it's not an accurate method. When turning a cant 90 or 180 degrees, it depends on what thickness you're cutting. 5/4 and under really doesn't matter if the cant isn't square; you'll never see it in the boards. 6/4 and above you'll need the material to be as square as possible. I prefer 180 degrees for the first turn and, if needed, using a framing square on the third turn. You'll have a nice, square cant which will give you nice, square lumber. Dave
