been missing your content. searched your channel and found you posted this 26 mins ago. It looks super yum altho I'm not into south indian dishes much. gonna give it a shot and this tune was probably the most unusual from all your previous work (including Dunkirk or Hitler's Haunt) and please make a really fun, high tempo song as the situation around is so so doomed, to feel up.. there are traditional bong dishes you've not worked on yet like potoler dorma or kochur loti (this would be hard to procure in Mumbai perhaps).
@sawandutta4 жыл бұрын
You’re not into southie food arre!!! Hardcore Bong I see? For a bit now I’ve decided to shift Bengali Aunty to other non recipe related stuff like Covid, Travel Memoirs etc, seeing how disinterested Bongs tend to be in anything remotely healthy - because I don’t see myself going back to unhealthy recipes, you know? Somehow just doesn’t feel right to me, having seen how terribly and adversely that stuff can affect people’s health, whether they like it or not. However, I have been experimenting with lots of Heart Healthy variations of Bengali dishes - let’s see if I feel like creating songs out of those at some point. ☺️

The composition and performance - both vocal and facial - are all excellent, Sawan. Uttapam doesn't attract me though. Never did, never shall. Sometimes I wonder about the origin of popular wheat flour/rice flour batter fried food. Like Dosa/Uttapam, pancakes or our very Bengali patisapta - which of these came first and whether the variations came to be after travelling across states, countries and continents through trade and cultural exchange? Food for thought?
@sawandutta4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Pallav hahahaha - you’re a hardcore Bengali Uncle I see 😃 And yes, that’s a thought - these are more like pancakes / crepes - pretty much like patishapta - more than batter fried though I guess? So I wonder whether these started in India or elsewhere - do they have crepes in places other than France? Will have to look this up! In fact all of cooking is so fascinating if you start thinking about how did someone first figure out this sequence of things yields something edible and tasty....pretty damn fascinating! ☺️
@calnetizen4 жыл бұрын
@@sawandutta Yes Sawan, I am. And a proud one at that. For good reasons, I believe. Find me a people anywhere on the planet that can cook even vegetarian dishes in 10% of the following ways I tried listing only some of which alphabetically. I promise you, I'll change my opinion the next moment. Having stayed in dozens of countries for years and over decades and having travelled across the length and breadth of India uncountable times, I have experienced nothing that can come anywhere close to the Bengali way of cooking. It is an incredible feat for a people whose history is barely a thousand years old. Cooking is but one of the features of a rich culture. You may test the richness of Bengal on almost any other parameter too - from language, literature, scientific achievements, spiritual leadership, dress, folk art et al. It is no coincidence that almost all Indian Nobel prize winners are from Calcutta or have an inseparable Bengal connection. It is absurd to think that any other linguistic group in India would achieve a fraction of this in the next few centuries. । And now imagine that all of these can be prepared in many different ways. I'd rather keep fish, meat and such untouched. I don't want others to suffer from inferiority complex.
