I did not know that’s how to remove each blade from the bundle. I noticed my square ring on my porch the other day and wondered where did that come from. Your video reminded me.

Awesome video! Love the angles and details! What’s the average life span of a blade old vs. new?

I usually get about 4-5 sharpenings before blade failure 😞 thanks for commenting

Enjoyed the vid, and your happy/goofy (no offense whatsoever meant)attitude. Which sharpener/stone are you using? The ol' Lombardini sounded good.

Glad you enjoyed the video, trying to loosen up and have some fun with an otherwise pretty boring subject. I'm using the pink simi rough stone, too course and the stone wants to dig, too fine and the stone will ruin the temper on tooth before it gets sharp. The old Lombardini kicked the bucket before I came along (mill has 3200hrs). It has since been replaced with a 4cyl turbo'ed kubota. Thanks for the comment!

I just watched a blade video. Pallet guys use a weird gullet that rakes/sweeps out the sawdust. Its like they just grind the top 1/2 of the blade. They leave some face metal as part of the gullet. Might not de-temper the blade as easy.. might be worse... idk.

Curious for sure, probably using the same wood maybe a more specialized tooth configuration. Thanks

Call me crazy too. I have only dulled 3-4 blades so far. 1 !!! of those was a back stop strike ... I know.... lost several teeth. It may be a I know this tree has nails in it , standby. But, I'm sure that would be a cull and I understand that,. But I still want my blades back.(just me) Just for kicks I took a blade and sharpened it with a file. (I'm an old school chainsaw filer)not a fan of grinders, partly because they usually are not too easy to take along. and they can screw the temper up,. Anyway,. I spent a ridiculous amount of time, round file in gullet and flat on teeth, I know the technique was botched, but it produced a very good result, considering my beard was longer after the process.... Didn't mess with the set and I know that will come eventually, but I wanted to see or try my hand at it. (just to see) The guys at the blade shop said you will just ruin a good blade. Welllllll.... that thing cut like hot knife through butter, My buddy was like DAAAAANg.... I said don't be too impressed cause it took me forever and it was a Pain. I too don't like the idea of not getting my blades back because someone deemed it unfit (just to sell more blades)and furthermore the thought of not getting my blades back,,. I saw the piles of,,, or racks of blades and not sure the guys knew or cared who's blades were who's, just like the post office, not sure how they pass all they do everyday,. let alone Holidays... I addition I don't like to rely on anyone and taking or mailing is just a PAIN.. !!! And then you have to make time to go and pickup your blades(before they close)and time doesn't always allow the daily chores and obstacles.(or problems) I may order a diamond wheel or I may fashion my own, I could buy a case of grinding wheels for what 1 actual wheel costs. I'm on the fence on this one. I have ordered a simple setter, so I'm kinda committed at this point to progress in some way. I have 30 blades (all new) so I am not pushed at this point and I'm a more of a hobby sawer than trying to produce profit. My mill is all manual but it does what I need (30")and furthermore,. it's therapeutic to me. Anyway that was a long Ramble.. Just to say thanks for making the video. 1 more thing... all my cutting has been oak, & Red oak and some cedar. Cedar is my Fav all around. But oak is not the easiest wood to start out on. And I have a pile of it to get cleaned up. get sap rot off and just squared or canted up. Thanks again.

Thanks for the comments and your welcome. There was way more teeth cutting than I realized when I first decided to buy a mill. Good luck and enjoy the ride.
