I have this exact bass in left handed version. I got it on a trade from a drummer that decided not to get into bass. The clarity is awesome. Far better than what this video demonstrates. It's almost like plucking a piano wire. The sustain goes on like there's a compressor attached. I replaced the strings with light gauge and decided to put the higher C string on instead of the lower B. Chords sound amazing. You can easily hear the individual strings within the chord. I charged the battery on the first night so I can see how long it takes to go dead and I leave the cord plugged in. It's been 3 weeks so far and the low battery light hasn't come on yet. Compared to a fender p bass, it's louder, brighter (on a flat eq). I personally can't hear a difference between the toggle switch straight up and in powered mode. Both sound scooped to me. When the switch is in "bypass" mode, it adds the mids and sounds more like by p bass. The split coil or coil tap is probably good for something but I'll never use it. It makes the bass sound weaker and less piano string sound. I'd much rather hear the full bass sound which almost sounds like the bass was doubled in a studio recording. The build of the bass is excellent. I noticed that the bone nut on my bass had some manual adjustments which shows that their quality control is actually doing their job. I have close action and no fret noise. I think this bass is a definite keeper and definitely better than a Fender player. The best thing about this bass is that it can be a p or j bass. It can sound vintage or modern. Only thing it doesn't have is its own internal overdrive.

Beautiful bass! The idea of a rechargeable battery is a turnoff, though, since rechargeables have limited lifespans and must be replaced after a few years. That won’t be a problem if OEM replacement batteries are readily available in the future but what are the odds of that being the case? How difficult would it be to adapt the bass to accommodate a 9V battery instead?
