That's the key to defeat Katakuri imo..making him lose his cool so he can't focus on his mochi powers and haki abilities which are insane to say the least. Luffy can't duke it out with Katakuri for too long in Gear 4 because the time limit. and Katakuri's is just too good of a fighter . But he has a glaring weakness...and Luffy has get into Katakuri's head. We all know that Katakuri's very sensitive about whatever happened to his mouth..if Luffy uses this knowledge against his foe..it will be doubt be to his advantage but of course there's a huge risk in dealing with an enraged sweet commander.

Not even that, if anyone actually remembers the detail. Back in Dressrosa, Gatz asked Luffy if he could move after Gear 4 timed out, Luffy said he could but he was just weak. He chose to let himself get carried by those people in Dressrosa to conserve his energy. Seriously read that chapter, it was stated way back the first time that Luffy can move after Gear 4's time limit.

I think I’m seeing a new reason for the necessity of whole cake island arc. Not only is luffy going to be able to learn new ways of fighting from his experience here he’s having to go in and out of gear4...A Lot. The reason I see this being important is just like how his previous gears initially had limits and took a massive toll on his body, through frequent use in combat he was able to learn how to overcome them. Exactly what you said. These breaks won’t cut it in wano and by showing us all this here Oda will be a lot more justifiable showing luffy getting better by the time we fight kaido. Honestly I don't know how you all feel about this arc, the setting, the build up and all, but I started reading the manga weekly since fishman island and I don't remember a time where I had soo much fun reading one piece then in the current arc. Wci beats marineford in so many aspects for me, the dark themes oda included were so refreshing. The charlotte siblings all have there flaws with which I can relate really well😅. I hate long war arcs, were it's just fight, fight, fight, I mean I know that majority likes it, but I don't really understand why? One piece shines In it's world building, flashbacks and individual characters, it never was top notch when it comes to fights. The art-style was phenomenal, which for me shows that oda has had alot of fun drawing this arc, which is a good sign. I feel like he's a Germa fanboy, every time when they are on screen, the art goes in another level. Well I also think they will be the ones to rescue luffy out of this mess in the next chapters. I'm really curious How Germa 66 " Unrivalled military" performes against the bm fleet. All in all this arc was awesome for me, wano and reverie have to bring some god-level stuff to top this ( of course just my opinion)

Luffy is gonna need to improve his base power. He can't just keep running every time Gear 4th runs out. This is the New World; that won't always work. Hell, it barely worked this chapter. The way I see it, Luffy has improved his stamina... when he first did this, he had no energy to even move. Now he can run and do regular attacks even after being depleted from gear 4. I think awakening is right around the corner and does this mean Katakuri is stuck in the mirror world? Plot Convenience!!! lol jk but seriously though...

I don't see Luffy finding Brulee as plot armor. We know she has to stay in mirror world so that Katakuri has a way out, and she's using the mirrors to relay messages all over the area. We even see that she's observing Big Mom. Yes he found her at the exact moment he needed, but she had to be close by in order to watch the fight.

I actually like the fact that luffy has to take a break. Like you mentioned it keeps his power grounded. I think in the future Luffy gets over the limitation as his haki control improves but I like how oda didnt just have him jump to that level. I also wasnt too bothered by brulee being in the mirror world. It makes sense from a plot standpoint because she was keeping an eye on what was happening in nuts island and was probably planning on taking katakuri there once he beat luffy. Its was a little convenient that luffy found her so easily but its been pretty prevalent throughout the series that luffy has a lot of luck and that some luck is necessary to become pirate king

Sorry fanboys. Luffy lost against doflamingo. Doflamingo lost against: (everything luffy had (with a break) + Law's ultimate move (gamma knife + countershock) + gladiators + doing all this while continuously holding a cage over a big ass island, so strong that pushed against zoro, fujitora, franky, tontattas, kinemon, and all the badasses in the colisseum). Also while actively controlling tons of people. Give credit where it's due. Luffy won truly 1v1 against Lucci, caesar, hody, etc. Not against Doflamingo and will not be the case against Katakuri.

Luffy could barely movie, lying on the ground in pain while Lucci was standing besides him. In my opinion Luffy didn't "truly" won against Lucci cuz Ussop has to be there just to give Luffy encouragement through mental support and not to give up no matter what. However, if you look closely in the duration of the fight, Luffy was outmatched by Lucci most of the time and his body had exceeded his physical limit. Luffy was only able to win through the help of Ussop.

AlmightyMadara I thought it was a pretty bad ending. Especially for Shun. His best friend and sister pretty much died. Imo the best arc was the synchro dimension arc. Also I thought the final duel was pretty predictable. Over all though, a really good series. Vrains is looking to be Amazing.

Wow, what a disappointment. How long ago was it Luffy first squared of against Katakuri in the mirror world? 4-5 chapters? And all that anticipation just to have him run away. I'm rarely disappointed with Oda's writing but the way he has handled the end of WCI has been a big let down. This is shaping up to be another Dress Rosa with the way he's dragging out the ending. Oh, and another break next week.. We are in for the long haul apparently. I hoped WCI would be different.

I would rather Oda take his time giving his characters and arcs development then him just rush to the ending of One Piece. But if you don't like the pacing then there are always other manga to keep up with.

Luffy is fighting commanders, admirals, and yonko and he's surviving plot armor or no plot armor. He's making a lot more progress than the other supernovas and others around his level. The people he fights have years more experience than him and yet he still holds his own. I mean with people he's been fighting recently just him surviving is amazing enough. It's funny because if Luffy actually be some of these be people in legit 1v1s people would be complaining about how op he is or why he shouldn't have won. Luffy and his crew have made huge progress in such little time whether people realize it or not. Heck even katakuri sees him as a big threat in the future. Keep doing what you're doing Oda. It's amazing how far they've come since the beginning of the series

Totally agree with you here, Sawyer. Oda set some rules and now he's following them. And since he obviously has more plans with Katakuri, he could not let Luffy defeat him before G4 ran out. Of course it's mega-convinient that Brulee was just sitting there, but hey, she's been knocked out several times now, so she took a rest far away from the fight. A not very constructed, but instead plausible scenario. I really liked this chapter, because although I, like everyone else, want the arc to progress quicker, have nonstop action till the end and have the crew move on from Whole Cake relatively soon, b/c I'm very excited for Wano and Reverie, I still want the plot to make sense and be consistent.

Brûlée being there in that exact corner sitting on the ground was a bit funny/weird, but it was also convenient af! It might just be me but i feel as though this entire arc almost has waaay to many consecutive conveniences! From a bomb exploding the cake right on time, to big mom losing her shit (therefor making escape easier), to smoothie doing jack shit since the beginning of her intro etc etc.

I have a question so observation haki can only look at the future right and what about to happen right? If so then the dark night’s observation haki is probably in a higher level right maybe max level because when the straw hats attacked the celestialdragons then he was like “Hatchin don’t talk I can figure it out my self” then he just stands theree rubbing his chin hair for a bit.
