Totally enjoyed that presentation. I have a new 6mo old male pygmy goat thinking of getting him a buddy, two is my limit. Thinking of building your idea but a bit smaller not as long. Just want them, to have the option wood floor with hay down and their sweet feed and minerals and water pale. Northern middle Tennessee winter can get pretty darn cold. Thx

nice, I am digging the goat layout. we have Kiko and they don't go in the barn much, late at night and when its raining hard, they will go in. some kid in the barn, some don't. I do bring the kids in if they kid in the pasture. one question, what is that white stuff out in the pasture?? we don't get that stuff very much in SC. we have big PVC pipe cut in half for feeding. I will have to show that in the next update on our channel. thanks for sharing.

I could spend money on better fencing. Those feeders made out great wood gonna last a long time. Just feed your small herd in there only for few weeks cus they not stupid when it comes to food. Feed them at your dinner table and they’ll come 😅😂🤣😂. Had 2 Arabian stallions come in to dining room for a magazine photo shoot for a Thanksgiving dinner.....so calm and beautiful with their teacup muzzle and arched necks. Now that’s crazy!!! Just wondering what everyone uses and if there is something better. great video
@SawyerRidgeFarm
@SawyerRidgeFarm 4 жыл бұрын
I honestly use the old fashioned way. I was having the same problem trying to figure out the best way to keep records. I remember asking around also, but then I just found out that getting a 3 ring binder and making separate tabs for each kind of animal was just as efficient. I have tabs for each kind of animal and also keep tabs for farm income and expenses (for tax reasons). I know this might not be much help, but that’s the way that I do it.

Jacob, what kind of anchor points do you use? I have been thinking of building something similar but cement the posts into the ground. At the same time I want to spend the least amount of money as possible. What do you recommend?

The ones we used for this was concrete rebar framing stakes. It’s a big 3 ft long piece of rebar with holes in it. You can usually get them at a lumber yard or hardware store.

Hope the next time you get snow they will make use of the shelter. Your suggestions for improvements will be very helpful to someone who needs to build a shelter for their animals.

Yes, I keep hoping they’ll use this shelter, but they only go in there to eat when we feed them in there. Otherwise it can be pouring down rain and they’ll be standing up in the woods. Lol

Sawyer Ridge Farm, the cedar trees make good umbrellas. Maybe that's why they stay in the woods.

if you have a heat lamp in with your goat you must monitor it because the are known for playing around and breaking the bulb and that could be bad!
