Jim, you sound so great with that metal piece. It's definitely brighter but in a good way...it sounds really even and has a nice shimmer. Keep playing it, it suits you well.

Love the tone. Would it be possible to do a video on the budget tenor saxes you stock?

Hey Jim, I use a Meyer 6L tenor sax mouthpiece. Whats your opinion of it
@marks.66565 жыл бұрын
Great playing and lovely velvety sounding tenor, Jim. However, I'm a bit confused now- Wasn't the System 76 2nd Edition tenor supposed to be their answer to an early Mark VI ??? Or is the 76 more similar to a really great playing late SBA ?? I've heard several endorsing artists joke that the best Mark VI they've ever played was a Mauriat 76.

I don't call it the F# key rather I call it the G key because if you use the alternate F# fingering plus the F# key you get a G which is an easy way for high schoolers or students to hit the high G

Yah my bundy student model didn't have a f# either.

Now can they make it affordable to real in the field players? I don't think so, it's a Mauriat

no f# key = no buy, sorry... it's so useful for altissimo, why someone wants to remove that? I guess it's a snob trend. And by the way there is no proof that having a F# key change the sound of a saxophone, if you don't like it don't use but don't remove it or at least have an option to have one.

Agreed. I personally have a 99K Mark VI with high F#. It's a phenomenal horn. If you notice Brecker used a similar high F# horn for Some Skunk Funk. Didn't affect him at all, won't affect anyone else.

Everyone has their preferences, no need to bash. Why buy a conn when the keywork is terrible? People like them and their sound. Lots of different saxes for lots of different players.
@zvonimirtosic61715 жыл бұрын
@@brycebaliko7050 Stating the truth is not bashing; extra F# key means no instability on a good horn. No human ear can hear the difference. So, to justify or explain the removal of that useful key with a silly excuse, that "it is a professional hi-end thing", is preposterous. Sax co uk made a snobby slip there, but we'll gladly forgive them that.

Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, Michael Brecker, Sonny Rollins, Sonny Stitt did more than fine without a high F# key.
