I have one also. A great tool for practicing. I have not played around too much with the alternate sounds, but really like the option of practicing anytime or anywhere without impacting others. 🎷🎧❤

I got behind the crowdfunding for the Travel Sax 1 and did preorder it there. The first version of the Travel Sax was already very promising, but with some room for improvement. The Travel Sax 2 is absolutely amazing. The perfect tool for practicing at all hours, everywhere, any place. The keys respond very well, due to the new stainless steel key mechanism, very similar to a real saxophone. It's also a great way to check your techinque, since you can see your fingers and you can control, if they move too far away from the keys (flying fingers). The sounds of the built-in synthesizer are wonderful and you can now connect your headphones through the Aux-In input, without having to use a DAW. I take it to all of my gigs, to practice on long trainrides, which is fortunately possible again after Corona, those dreaded masks all the other chagrin. I can wholwheartedly recommend the Travel Sax 2 to anyone who is serious about becoming a better musician. «He who stops getting better, stops being good» - Japanese proverb

I got mine a couple of days ago. So far i really like it. I do have a comment though: I think the biggest barrier/complaint people have is going to be the cost. I have no idea how much these things actually cost per unit to make, but like i think most of us would imagine that if it were a very popular kind of product, for a very large kind of market, then we'd expect it to be a lot cheaper, but that's not the case, and it's value really lies in whether or not it's something you'd use a lot. Having said that, the purchase i made comes with the free extra accessory pack with a "value" £49. Considering what's in it, the pack itself does feel overpriced, if it were purchased separately, and this might add to the feeling that the whole thing is rather expensive. Having said that, I've just ordered a plectrum for £40, so ...

Looks very nice and small, with fingering like a saxophone, it's quiet doesn't disturb the neighbours, although improvement is needed on the noisy key movement. It's expensive for what you get. Otherwise it would be ideal for use in my setup of home use.

great video,tku for sharing with us your opinion about this musical device, by the way what kind of sax neck strap are you using with your travel sax 2 ? please let me know....continue making great videos
@saxworldwide

Many thanks! The strap is a BG S82SH curved soprano strap. The S85SH is even smaller and will work even better but it is a tight fit over your head!

I have it and it is a great tool. I believe that since Odisei music is a new and not very well known company, you should spent like 1minute and mention Ramon, the inventor of the TS and his Spanish company. During the whole video, is mentioned only once when unboxing. Also is not mentioned that you can use it directly with headphones without connecting it to a phone or PC, unlike the Emeo.

Great to hear you're enjoying your Travel Sax! Ramon has been very helpful and represents the company fantastically. Great things await for Odisei!

Are there any offer codes available here in the UK? (like the one available if you're purchasing in the USA - which means the additional neck extension pack is free).

No codes I'm afraid, but the advantage for you is that you save shipping and import costs as you are based in the UK.

What’s your opinion of it compared to emeo. I’m attracted to not having to plug it into a computer. Thoughts
@saxworldwide
@saxworldwide Жыл бұрын
There are some similarities, and some differences. The Emeo is the only digital sax that uses a real sax as its basis, and in this sense it leads against all the competition in terms of an absolutely realistic fingering sensation, key weight etc. However, for me the TS is the best of the rest in that (unlike the Yamaha) the keywork response is excellent (stainless steel springs, light sensor technology) and there is zero latency. You can also adjust the tension of keys if needed. And as you say, you don't need to plug into a computer with the TS. You can play it entirely by itself - or with a phone via bluetooth is my preference.

Great for practicing finger work, dynamics, and articulation. You can exercise your embouchure, but no perfect it. Responsiveness is also very good. Occasionally squeaks a high pitch/screech. You can connect to your mobile phone and hear your phone music through the TS2 headset which is great for practicing silently. The main concern is that the bluetooth connection requires Location permission. This may be a privacy issue since other bluetooth apps don't require Location permission. The other problem is that you cannot pair while in airplane mode while earbuds, watches, and other BT devices can. When flying, you must pair TS2 to your phone before you activate airplane mode. Alternatively, you can use one ear to listen to one of the earpieces connect to the TS2 and your other ear to use one of your bluetooth earbuds. You will not be able to change any settings (eg alto to tenor) without being connected to your phone app. I have reached out to Odisei several times with no explanation other than you need Location permission.

Hi, do you know, if one can use e.g. a jbl box (without a lot of extra devices) to play in the street. It would be nice to distribute the mixed sound from backing-track and you're playing. And do you think the quality is good enough to do so. Thanks
@saxworldwide
@saxworldwide Жыл бұрын
Yes, this would work. You could send tracks from your phone to the TS via bluetooth (or Aux in) then connect a mini-jack to the headphone-out to go into your JBL setup. The sound quality is certainly good enough.

I'm searching for a practice-tool for the nighttime. I dont plan to travel with it and stand between the TS2 and the YDS 120. The key-action of the YDS 120 seems to be worse but from what I heard the saxophone voices of the YDS sound much nicer. And its cheaper. Has anyone experiences with both instruments? Thx

Personally for me I'm not looking to emulate sax sounds on devices like this and similar to it, but if that's what you're looking for the SWAM saxophones in Audio Modeling are supposed to be very good.

Given that the emphasis is on learning fingering work, is the different sensor system worth it in comparison with the Yamaha YDS-120? This is about 50% more expensive. EDIT: On your website it is even about 70% more expensive.

Jim here. Yes, in my opinion. I found the extra fluidity the stainless steel springs and sensor system afforded me a whole different experience.

This product is extremely poor for the reasons below: 1- The keys are very noisy enough that at some point, you can not hear your notes 2- the spring tension are far too hard and after playing this for a while, your are destined to play your acrostic instrument with too much tension, so not good for practice 3- some notes, are too sharp including B 4- way way way way way too overpriced. I would not pay $10:for this junk Above observations by two musicians (including me) at the music shop

You nailed it ! I would have liked that this objective conclusion be clearly stated in the video : this is a gadget that is just good for fingering when travelling and costs way too much (the price is insane !). And we could add (this is said in the video, altough you have to read between the lines), that the mouthpiece woobles and you have to break your right wrist to play. For a small session practicing fingerings it is okay, but come on, this is just basically rubbish !
