I used to see Jeff Lorber Fusion at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT. Those were some great times. They always had the crowd going wild for the whole show.

My Uncle Paul says he always use to go see them back in the 1980s. Can’t imagine how fun it was. Toad’s Place seemed liked the place to be in the 80s.

This song was inspired by "Toad's Place" New Haven.."Where legends play"...I saw them perform several times. During one show the band experienced a technical malfunction, a newer band member stepped to the front of the stage and began playing the sax....the crowd went crazy...he was introduced as Kenny Gorelick..later the audience was giving him props, he signed autographs....he was Kenny Gorelick...a year later ...he went solo and was called Kenny G!

Got this album back in the early 1980s. It was being played on the Jazz and Adult contemporary FM stations back then, along with artists like Chick Corea, Spyro Gyra, Neil Larson, Al De Meola just to name a few. Great new stuff back then. A mini Jazz renaissance as I like to think of it.

I had never heard of Jeff Lorber but I found a 12" of his in a very grimy record store in L.A. two weeks ago and bought it because it features a pre-fame Karyn White. Truth be told, the song stinks but I showed it to an older friend of mine who told me Lorber was a Northwest guy from a long time ago.

I don't like being in this position, but the sax is Kenny Gorelick, the original sax guy for Lorber. The deal is, Lorber has an ego, and at that time Kenny Gorelick didn't. I saw them in San Diego, at the small club near the UCSD campus, 1982. And at the Mandeville Center on the campus. Exceptional musicality, e mais alem o Kenny Gorelick da um toque fenomenal ao soulful ritmo e cordas bem brasileiras.
@juneniemann391
@juneniemann391 5 жыл бұрын
Wow. I'll forgive your history lesson. Jeff Lorber has been writing R and B and soulful music since the beginning. He didn't need G. True, they wrote great music together, but Kenny wanted to go on his own and Jeff produced his first 2 albums because he wanted him to have great sendoff. That's not a person with a big ego. I've been listening to Jeff for over 40 years.
