0:09 Texas 1974, and its a 1969 Corvette with the two year only side gills, a tri power 427 that needed that Cowl hood to fit, and has the door for the windshield wipers removed, which was a one year option in 68 go figure, wonder if the vehicle director got the things mixed up and put the wrong plate on it by mistake, or they were able to get a 68/69 instead, as the 74 would have the fiberglass front and rear ends with the color coded bumpers and the split backside at which point I cant say I blame him, as in 74 the only one worth a damn was the 454, which zora antov duntov, actually took with him as his retirement present a 74/75 convertible, last year they made it, with a 454 under the hood that he kept well into the 80's and should look like the one at 2:35, a 76, just with a split backside and a different badge on the front, and its amazing how many small changes can make a C3 look so different in a very small time span

@jonwoodworker9 ай бұрын
@@kavinskysmith4094 I don't understand your reference to the LT1 350 performing like a 327, your statement doesn't make any since. You do know why solid lifters were used, right? Maybe you don't understand what the intended purpose was. The LT1 was built for CanAm racing where engines needed to make power high in the rev range. So, making far more HP than a 327. The LT1 is certainly no torque monster and mine would barely spin the tires until 3000rpms, after that it was a beast...for the era, for its purpose.
@kavinskysmith40949 ай бұрын
@@jonwoodworker the 327 actually has its power up in the rev range like you describe, and actually revs up to about 6,200 I dont know about horsepower but, I would say the figures are off knowing GM and how they operated back then like get behind the wheel of a 68 with a 327, I bet you its gonna have quite abit more horsepower than you think and perform pretty close without a solid lifter cam in it heck its the motor that the corvette made its name with given its just a bigger version of the 263/283 series that performed far more like a 396 than a 350 and the 350 just wasnt that good and was ment far more for fleet usage, than performance and would throw rods when you pushed it too hard, the 327 however, bored out to 377 CI and some race gas and it was putting out a true blue 400 plus horsepower and racing with the cobra's like if you want the old days back, go and find something with that motor, or the motor itself and put it in a late 70's car for dimes on the dollar and I think you'll be plesantly surprised at the result hell its what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna buy a 78, dump the shitbox motor and put the proper king of the road where it belongs.
