one thing i always liked bout the Valley tho (once again this comin from a Saxon), the music selection by the Brass. Valley never was afraid to step out on a limb n play suppm what most people never imagined in junkanoo. It wasn't til recent days Saxons and the others started doin the same...like playin reggae songs and r&b or any other popular song...say what ya like this junkanoo and Bahamian and all dat but that shit is come hard when u hear one wicked song on Bay!

Yes i do recall that i guess i miss . The Africa im talking about was the Africa yearss ago that debut with the theme song buffalo soldier not the recent Africa presented by us in recent times.

I cud see Roots surpassing Saxons because roots is a protege' of the valley and so some of the skill and teachings in Roots are from the valley. So its not hard to believe.

Are u crazy da best theme rendition ever was da valley's presentation of Rome . No other presentation on bay street has topped that since. Rome will always be remembered.

I agree the best theme ever on Bay Street was the Roman Empire from the Valley. I have never witnessed a performance, beauty and splendour like that shown when the valley brought Rome to bay there has never been a theme like that. It hasn't surprise me that the valley brought that the valley sets a precedence everytime and ur rite. The valley were the innovators for Africa. U know ur stuff too. We all await freeport anxiously. i think i cud say without fear that the valley will take best music.

Dleslie I rush with valley and I can say wester frontier, hollywood, freedom and Ms universe all got better results. with Ms universe valley got 1st, 2nd and 3rd in lead costume

I think wat happen to saxons with the Africa theme was its debut on bay . Im a HARDCORE valley and that rendition of the Africa theme was GREAT, but i dont think that the judges were prepared to allow another Africa theme take 1st position again. Africa has been won by da Valley, One Family and I think Saxons before so its outplayed but they did a spectacular job with it.

yea i gatta give u that, I'm a Saxon, used to rush widum too til i moved to Ft. Lauderdale. But what u said is tru. Valley (OF OLD) used to lock down with those themes (Africa, Wild West, Revelation, etc.)...Today's Valley wouldn't do the same tho...can u deny that? If Valley came with Africa today it wouldn't be as good as Saxons own here. For example, remember couple years ago Valley bring out China!

I would say the best rendition of Africa on Bay Street has been from the valley. Da valley epitomized what it was to portray Africa on Bay Street when the theme music was buffalo soldier. The Valley has had the best rendition and every time the valley brings Africa u cud write that one off cuz that parade finish. Nobody, NOBODY does an Africa theme like the valley. Besides its old no theres nothing else to add to it. Thats why the Saxons lost the parade.

Back to what i was sayin bout when Valley brought out China (most recent), everyone was SOO disappointed cuz they expected Valley to lock it down with a theme like that but The Valley these days don't EXECUTE the way they used to back in the day. This theme old but Saxons BLOW AWAY EVERYone! that was injustice and i think the biggest upset ever! gatta be! it was clear victory!

I recall that ,that china wasnt da best from da valley usually when Da valley picks themes that centre around countries like Europe, Africa, Asia, India or Themes that have something to do with Mythology thats when they do their damage.Those kinds of themes are where their strength is.

I remember two robberies on Da valley. Anyone remember that New Year's morning when the valley brought Sports and the choreograph dancers were football cheerleaders they give valley 2nd that was a clear robbery . Valley was hot that morning. Another robbery was Da Wedding morning with the theme A Dream come true or something like that when the choreograph dancers were brides maids that was a clear robbery.

I would say when it comes to music selection Da Valley kno exactly what to play and who betta to execute. I think what is happening now in junkanoo is the need to be versatile you know.

Mudda Freeze i rememba rome morning for tru dred. Once valley came with the Rome theme that morning its was clear that valley took it. The Valley practically has the best execution of themes in junkanoo history. Rome and China were serious. Also Let my People Go and the Wedding.

But their theme been on Bay too many times and the backline couldn't get the old junkanoo beat right so it sounded like they was breaking down when they got by Rawson Square but the brass was solid. The reason why Family won was cause their theme was well executed and never been on bay before and they had performance for once! Be honest with it nah

Are u crazy Rome was way better than Saxons' Atlantis . China from the valley was even better than Saxons' renditon of Atlantis. Da Valley's renditon of Africa was also better than Saxons' renditon. Da Valley are da originators of the Africa theme and whenever they present that Bay Street locked.
