I really like that you go for more videos on the craft. Was playing around with refacing for fun with an old Buescher HR and learnt to respect your craft even more than I did before (+ to enjoy the smell of hard rubber!)

Hi Hannes, thanks man! Yeah, good quality hard rubber does smell good haha! Its great that you’re doing some mouthpiece work. Let me know if you have questions.

Hi.. and how to get the correct measurements for the curve of the mouthpiece to be corrected ?
@Stephan-Kammerer2 жыл бұрын
You get that from measuring mouthpieces and creating your facing layouts based on what you find. The different areas of the curve impact playability and sound in different ways so you have to study that to really understand how facing numbers work. You can try to copy the numbers from one piece you like and see if you can put them on another mouthpiece. I suggest you practice measuring a lot of facings before you start working on mouthpieces if you haven't done it before though.

So a Babbit STM is just an unfinished blank and the originals FL & Meyer are hand finished like the end result?
@Stephan-Kammerer4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew! Not exactly. As far as I know, Babbitt pieces are still hand finished to a certain extend, just not a well as they used to be. There is always a difference in all of the pieces even the vintage pieces.
