Why don’t they call it what it really is, just call it a F U fee
@WildWabbit31223 ай бұрын
You obviously don't know how this works. They use resort fees so they can keep rates down resulting in paying less commissions to third party booking agencies. If resort fees are removed, they will just up the room rate and take other measures to make up for the lost revenue. If you look at the how these casino corporations are doing revenue wise from brick and mortar operations, they aren't doing that well. Online gaming is a big revenue maker for them now.

I did it at the Horseshoe. I went to the front desk and asked what the resort fee is for. They told me and i said to them "that's perfect, I used none of that so please remove the fee for something I didn't request or require." I was told it was automatic. I told them that it's fraudulent to charge for services that were not used and could be considered theft, especially since it wasn't on the original bill when booked. He told me in the fine print it said "subject to other fees and taxes". When I said that I will not be staying here any longer or gambling in any of Ceasars properties any longer he caved and cancelled the resort fees. It worked for 2 years until last year when I was told "go ahead and leave". So I haven't been back since.

Appreciate all your hard work Jacob on this issue (the notorious RESORT FEE) and your other episodes too. It's disgusting that someone has to try to find a "work around" to avoid this MONEY GRAB. Personally, I'm not a tourist in Vegas. I just fly in, bet, and leave. Not an option or a choice for a lot of people, I know. What's also egregious greed are the prices for food & drink, plus the restrictions to keep you eating in the casino. One of the notorious ones is Westgate. They don't allow outside delivery, and it is off the beaten path. I once ordered a pizza from Joe's Pizza, and had to walk what I estimate about 200 yards plus across the street to a bit of a sketchy gas station/convenience store just to get it in 100 plus weather. I had to make a stand, but there was a price!

@@alabamaal225 we are smart gamblers. All of us bring five grand and the three of us pull are wins and losses together every trip we make. So if one of us loses all five grand and the other two double, triple or quadruple their five grand we all leave with a profit. There's only been about five or six trips in which we came back with less. And we're talking over a hundred plus trips. The least we ever came back with was 920 bucks each. Typically we'd come back with between six to seven grand. There were four times when we came back with thirteen to fourteen grand each. And if we came back as a break even we counted that as a win. My formula for no Resort Fees 1) Buy in at table games for $500. Sometimes only play up or down max 200. Do it at least x 2 a day. 2) Staying in my room, ask for new towels only, don't require maid to make my own bed. 3) Be nice in my comments to staff and all Phone conversations to every facet of booking and hotel staff. Somethings working. Staying in 3 weeks Free rooms, no R.F's...250 in food credit...150 in F. slot play....x 2 free buffet add on. Somewhere on the notes on my account...is ...we like this guy. Oh, ...last year, got on the plane $1800 profit. LOL....yes, I know...they want it back.

Was there in May Won’t ever go back Vegas had their hand in my pocket from the minute I landed. They have gone the way of the concert ticket. Only the elite or people with more Dollars than sense. I really shouldn’t have to try to game the system to save money on my room. For the money spent there, I’ll gamble at Indian casinos and then spend 5 days in Hawaii.
My sister worked for an airline where our tickets to Vegas were free. Seeing as I had an addictive personality, I only took one hundred dollars for lunch and gambling. I could afford that loss. And fly back out in the evening. Who on earth wants to spend a week on the strip? It's the most chaotic mental overload known to mankind.

Staying at the Venetian in April 2025. And they basically told me… yeah you’re paying resort fees, unless the person checking you in is having a good day.

Curious why casinos don’t offer credit cards lol. Would be great for them but horrible for consumers.

If you are being double taxed and charged tax on the resort fee you are being double billed. Wtf is even a resort fee just an extra bill

Vegas is supposed to be the HOSPITALITY industry right. So how does it one feel when you arrive for a planned stay. Most places on the strip will nail you for an unexpected parking fee. When Vegas was really fun for the average person I can not remember any location charging for parking. Next you are hit with the resort fee what was not necessarily advertised in the room rate. Some places advertise a really reasonable room rate and fail to mention the resort fee that is sometimes greater than the room rate. Oh, you get to your room and you have to pay for internet or upgrade to better internet speed. (Motel 6 doesn't even charge for internet). Seems like no more meal deals anymore like the good old days. You pay the resort fee and it really covers nothing as you pay extra for just about anything like a chair at the pool etc. I have come to understand the Mob guys knew more about hospitality than he new corporate guys. I lived in Vegas a few years and only went on the strip a couple of times. The "Locals" resorts like Boyd and Station were much more user friendly.

I think LV is a unique city that perhaps everyone should experience at least once. But trying to come with tricks to make it affordable is silly. Just face it head on. If it's too expensive, tell everyone you know that it's a ripoff and then maybe, if it becomes less extortionate, you can visit again many years later. Either Vegas is a city for normal Americans or it's not. People should vote with their wallets.

It’s only a matter of time before they add a convenience fee, a mandatory 20% gratuity and a fee to pay for their employees healthcare and retirement funds. 😂🤦🏼♀️
