To get the rest of the factory tar residue off, put some 'goo be gone' in a spray bottle, and saturate the residue for about 30 minutes. It should wipe off with a paper towl. You can then use the isopropyl (make sure it is over 93%) to do a final cleaning on the entire floor and let air dry for an hour before applying the mat (that you accidentally bought for a Challenger) :)

You gotta love solid advice from the comment section. 😎🙌 Thanks. I had worked on it with some acetone and a rag. Took the light stuff right off, but that thicker stuff may need the GooGone soak. I actually have some GooGone in a spray bottle.
