Have you noticed that the more you speak in English the harder it is to speak in your native language? This phenomenon is known in linguistics as First Language Attrition and it refers to the partial or total lost of a person's first language. Don't worry, people rarely lose their first language completely and this process is reversible which means that if you start using your first language again you will eventually get it back.
First Language Attrition is very common among people who speak more than one language. To prove it, we asked some students to say something in their own language. This is what happened...
PS. Thanks to all the students that helped us with this project. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.- Sara

I don't understand what it is they are 'supposed' to say or what situation they are in that they find it so difficult, but it looks like a video with a good concept..

Yes, my first language is Spanish, but I am better speaking in English, after being surrounded in an area that only speaks English, I don’t speak it as often as before. I understand perfectly and I am intermediate in Spanish.

This is fucking offensive. As a former international student in the US, and now still live and working in the US, this video is fucking gross. How the hell you want to promote learning English as a second language by losing your first language. It looks like they are promoting of losing your own culture to be "American". For your information, I speak English fluently, and still keep my own language and culture. I can't believe this is happening in this college. Yikes. Bye Felicia.
