Layers, Saycet's first album in five years, has seen the Parisian producer move to a higher stage of his creation. A long format with pronounced reliefs, both free and timeless, carried by the singles Solaris or Malaparte.
On tour in the fall of 2021, notably in support of Thylacine with a show at the Salle Pleyel (Paris), the live performance of Layers has evolved with each show. Recreated and restructured, with the addition of vocal lines sculpt with vocoder, these « Sleepless » versions recorded live could not disappear without leaving traces. Remaining faithful to the spirit of the album, Saycet manages to detach himself from it in places to invest new sonic territories in contact with its listeners.
Slowly introduced by Mother, then launched by the pulsation of Lightyear, this Sleepless EP is articulated around the aptly named Layers, a perfect joint with his previous opuses (which will also appear on the soundtrack of Noémie Merlant's first full-length film to be released in 2022). Malaparte, whose club side is here more assumed, takes all its sense when it is played in concert. Finally Mountaineers, a techno track as powerful as fragile, built on three ascents, closes the experience of this Layers (Sleepless) on a peak of intensity.
