The farm I have now, my grandpa farmed before me...the neighbors to the south farmed there for years before that, and the neighbors to the north are the family that homesteaded the land and built the barn 130 years ago. Love these types of stories! Rest In Pasture, Farmer Fran 💚

What a story. I hadn't paid attention to the title until your shocking news of Fran in the end. Totally took me by surprise and gave me the chills down the spine. I thought it was just a story about a nice neighbor, but it was actually a story about change of guards, passing of time, a tribute to life fully lived . I suddenly feel old and wise, but not wise enough to have noticed the title. What a story. I really love the tranquility your farm landscape brings. It really soothes the rough edges of a city dweller's mind.

@@GoldShawFarm that’s good to hear! I work in health care a lot of people are not monitoring their O2 levels and are going to emergency from lack of oxygen circulation. Even people without lung issues really should be monitoring themselves especially if they are working outside! Still really great to hear your all doing well with the emissions! Drink lots of water!

Maybe you can get some other stories about him from his family and other neighbours, store owners, etc. You could pick a type of tree that you think matches Fran (or his favourite kind) and plant it as a tribute on your farm.

I find myself appreciating the older generations as I myself grow older. I will be 50 next month, so I can remember and have seen how different things have become in all aspects of life. Things are so much more fast passed and I fear more lonely, after what the world just went through only 3 short years ago. Even I, that knows less than nothing about farming of any sort, can see how its changed. That's why I appreciate channels such as yourself that show the everyday aspect. We need to appreciate our history as a nation, as states and in our invidual communitys...say hi to your older neighbors. They really do have the best stories and make amazing friends. What a beautiful video to share of your friend and the legacy he left with you . I recently lost a dear friend of mine a few weeks ago, he was 93 . I would visit him as well and I actually did some videos of him to save. He was an farmer and machinist as well. He took my hand corn grinder and took an old motor he had to make it electric so I wouldn’t have to hand grind feed scratch for my chickens. His family called me last week and said they wanted me to have it back with the motor he attached. I will cherish his stories and knowledge forever! 😢

That happened to be My grandfathers name as well, and there is just something about not being able to hear their stories of a bygone era ever again. What a beautiful tribute to Fran. I felt so much connection to this video. We bought a Vermont farm in 2020 and our Fran is named Marty. His grandparents owned the farm we are now the stewards of and we have found his stories and history to be such a a treasure. Marty is in his 70s now and I can tell the farming life was not easy on his body. Thank you for the reminder to treasure him while we can ❤
