Loved watching your journey with this car! Best wishes for the next one from a fellow Irishman. I will have one myself some day... the s3 grows on me more and more every time I see one!

Thanks a lot mate! Glad you enjoyed following the journey. It grew on me too the longer I had had it, but it was time to move it on. Good luck yourself with getting one down the line👍

The most under rated classic car. Beautiful car

Thanks! 👍 Yeah the S3 has been underrated for a while now. Miss driving mine.

Man, I hope you got something better because this is is a lovely car. I had an almost identical one but 1.6. It was the same colour with, and most importantly, the same 5 pointed star wheels.A super, super car to drive. It would take about 30mins to get the engine and components to warm up and then it was available for whatever you wanted. I did very long European journeys with my car and it was always reliable. People always enjoyed it wherever I went. It's not expensive to run or maintain, certainly for the amount of pleasure it returns.

Thanks! I do miss it especially the warble from the twin cam. But I found it uncomfortable to drive long distance so had to move it on. Basically I was too tall for it. If I had enough funds I’d change the seating position and steering plus pedal box. Was the 1.6 an ok engine power wise? I know the 1.3 in the Junior was way underpowered.

@@TaketotheRoad I never got to drive a 2.0 so I don't know how it compares. With the 1.6 top speed maxed at around 85mph, maybe 90, though it feels a lot, lot faster! For motorway driving it could do 70 to 80 all day long. Slow off the line but the engine had a fair bit of torque. It can do inclines and steep switchback mountain roads with no problem. I found it to be a real drivers car.

Cool. I think if I got another Spider I’d want to customize the seating position. So modify the floor pan, steering position, pedal box. Wouldn’t be cheap to do but it would improve the drive ability for me.

Sad to see it go but there’s always a new project just around the next bend 😉
@TaketotheRoad6 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Indeed there's always another project down the line. To be honest the Golf, x19 and Viceroy will be keeping me busy for a while!

What the hell?I cant believe youve done this.

I know... thought I was going to keep it for longer but things changed so the Alfa had to go sadly. There will be another down the road.

Unless you are in danger of being homeless you should be mad to do this.

Your testosterone level will initially drop due to the lack of Alfa exhaust note, but the body adapts. Unless you get a Prius. Medication is in order after that. :P

Ha ha thanks John 😉 Yeah it's been an adjustment alright without that Alfa noise. I've increased my Italian coffee consumption to ease the pain 😉 Seriously though, thanks for your tips and advice along the way 👍

So, when is the GTV6 coming? Or is it a Ferrari?!
@TaketotheRoad6 жыл бұрын
Both would be nice😉For now the Viceroy, Golf and x19 will keep me busy.

I'll stay tuned for the X1/9. Always wanted one.

What are your plans for the mk3 golf?
@TaketotheRoad6 жыл бұрын
The Golf will get some attention now with the Alfa gone. The GTi needs a new exhaust, MOT and service to get it back on the road. Then there's the bodywork to sort out... so a fair bit to do to it.

@@TaketotheRoad nice. Get an exhaust with a bit bigger pipe diameter than stock. And a sporty backbox would be cool too
