Wow, how amazing about your upgrade to a Singer Stylist sewing machine. That is the first and only machine that I have ever bought in about 1974. I still use it to this day. They were and are quality built. I have been thinking about getting one that has a few more stitch patterns. This model would be perfect. And I liked the two features with buttons you pointed out. Thanks for mentioning your purchase on the video.

I've been using it for a few days now and I'm pleased. The Pfaff that I dropped was a notably more spendy machine (my mom had passed it along to me when she got a new machine) but I like this one just as much. I know many sewers are brand specific, but I just wanted durable with the start/stop buttons.

I'm revisiting this video and remembered seeing the baby breath. I bought a bouquet at my grocery/florist store and dried them, and I just realized that I haven't made one of your super cute tags using the flower. Well, I'm working on a Venice, Italy junk journal, yes I googled are baby breaths grown in Italy, and yes they are! I like to be authentic in what I do so I'll be sure to include one of your tags. Thank you for your ideas. I love watching you!

Vintage sewing machines are wonderful to use for sewing paper. The basic zig zag and straight stitch machines are not difficult to recondition they need gentle cleaning and oiling with sewing machine oil. Armed with some basic knowledge from You tube videos you can do it yourself ( because I did it! ) these vintage machines blow the modern made sewing machines away on price and durability. Sears Kenmore from 1960’s and 1970’s are amazing!!

Totally agree. I had a Kenmore from the 60's that was a dream machine. It got dropped and cracked during a move, but I loved that beast.

Fantastic video. I even wrote don your list because it inspired me to start a list and I could use yours and spend less time thinking. I loved the journal card and right now a paper plate sits with a whole pile of dried flowers. I’ve been scrapping for 27 years, stamping and card making for about 22 and mixed media maybe 5. Swore I was not gonna get into art or junk journals at all, no way and now I am bound and determined to make a junk journal. I’ve been shopping ( and way to much) so now I have what I need except knowledge. So thank you to you and everyone else I am learning from❤

Sooo…i was just keeping the video on the background while I was at work and when I looked saw your storage, I was so amazed. How were you able to keep the paper from falling down the tray considering that you store them “vertically”😂 my brain is not working anymore and all i have done is write an email. I realized it’s the camera angle. I love your work though. So inspiring ❤

Hey Cori, loved your video, some many shares, love how much there was to look at and get ideas from. Adore the last tag you did with the transparancy/paper and flower, it looked fabulous. I would love to use real flowers but I have absolutely no joy drying them out :( would be interested to know you process :) enjoyed hanging out with you, as always! - not sure how I missed your knee surgery, so sorry, hope you're on the mend, slowly and surely! xxx

Thank you, Mandy, and thank you again for the tip about Susan's gorgeous die cuts! My flower drying system would probably make professional flower driers cringe, but it works for me. I lay the flowers between two pieces of paper towel, to absorb the moisture, then I lay them between two layers of plywood. I clamp down the plywood (with cheap, dollar store type clamps) and forget about them for a few weeks. Most flowers come out pretty decently, and fairly flat, that way. There are loads of videos using oven and microwave and such, but I don't trust myself not to burn down the house 😊 The leg/knee is very slowly getting better, thank you. Best wishes on a fantastic and refreshing vacation!

Tooks Craft Table just put out some lovely ephemera holders that she makes. Her video just went up today with 3 and she has done some custom orders. Not sure if it’s what you are looking for. You seem like the kind of person who has to keep very busy. The amount of stuff you do while also working full and time and running a channel, it’s just amazing. Do you have a phone booth installed in your craft room to change into super woman?! I was gifted an old sewing machine, but since I’ve never sewn before and it’s a little dissembled, I don’t know how to get started. I found the old manual online, but it’s of no help. Seems like a really good machine. Such beautiful and unique journal cards! 🤗❤️❤️

Hi Nancy! My knee surgery was Friday, June 2nd. I admit, I'm struggling with this one. I usually bounce back pretty quickly, but I haven't this time. Still, it's better than it was before the surgery, so I'll take it. The stool and pillow under my desk allow me to sit in my craft room for an hour or so a day. I was hoping I'd be able to do more. How are you? I hope your procedure went great and that you are recovering wonderfully ❤️

@@CoriDahmen Cori, it's been a 8 days since my surgery, I have my post op tomorrow, Thursday, so we'll see what the surgeon says. I'm doing better every day. I think I'm probably do a little too much but I am icing it and bending/stretching it like he told me to. Just take it easy and remember don't sit too long, get up every now and then if that is what your doctor said to do. Hopefully, you and I will be back int he swing of things asap! Hugs!🥰

Hi, First time watcher. Really liked the dried flower and transparency cards and tags. Good to know info about thickness too. Was wondering why you dont just make a ''storage journal'' to store your vintage ephemera? Or use a ring binder with clear pockets.
@CoriDahmen
@CoriDahmen Жыл бұрын
Hello and welcome! It's probably silly, I just really like using vintage items to store my vintage pieces, including authentic ephemera. I agree that a binder and plastic sleeves makes sense. I know I'll land on something!
@eveny119
@eveny119 Жыл бұрын
@@CoriDahmen Well you can cover the binders in old linens and vintage lace, velvets or an old wedding gown. As far as plastic, you use transparencies...or use semi transparent wax paper/tracing paper vellum or pockets.

Hello Lisa and welcome. I use transparency film. It's also called window film or acetate and can be found at Amazon and through most large office supply stores.

Cori, this question comes as the video has barely begun, but I'll forget if I wait until the end. . . at 4 minutes and 6 seconds you apologize for the glare and say something about 'window film and transparency'. So for clarification: are you using window film for these transparent packages or is it actually transparency film? Sorry for my confusion. Hearing the words sent me down the rabbit hole of wondering if window film (probably much less expensive than transparency film) would work and if anyone would have thought of that first, it would be you. So, if you can let us know, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it. Thank you. Now back to the video :)
@CoriDahmen
@CoriDahmen Жыл бұрын
I actually use transparency, the type that teachers used to use with an overhead projector. That said, different people and places call that transparency different things. Some refer to it as acetate (which it is generally made from) and others say window film. I used all the words so that people could find it no matter how it's referred to where they live.
