Great video! What I like most about the video is that you know exactly what you are getting into. 1st and second time through... And your rig is 100 percent set up to do it. Winch is ready to go at all times. Nicely done and thanks for sharing. Gives us new stockers some ideas about what we need as we develop our rides. Go Jeep Go!
Vin Jeep Aspire to get stuck in a mud hole for someone to get you out? Dunno what folks get out of dipping their rigs like this in deep mud holes.

My grandfather told me many years ago that any vehicle could get stuck in the mud but a 4x4 could get stuck worse because the driver usually thought he could make it... This video proves my grandfather's words are still true, he passed away in 1978. Grandpa wasn't a genius, he just used a bit of common sense along with a lifetime of experience.

Also, the tires were aired down to 14 psi. They just have a pretty stiff sidewall. Two schools of thought on aired down tires. 1. More traction with less air, but only on rocks and obstacles in my eyes. 2. Loss of ground clearance when aired down. Even though you are putting more tread on the ground. Some people prefer a taller and skinnier tire for mud, so they can cut to the bottom of the pit for traction. Only thing that would have helped me is way bigger tires and more power from the motor.

8500 lb has always worked for me and anything else I've pulled. The Jeep isn't heavy enough to pull anything while it's freestanding anyways. I always hook the back of it to a tree or put the front bumper against a tree to pull other people. Also, make sure that whatever size you get will fit on or inside your bumper.

I like the lift there because it can't get buried in the mud. If it were tailgate mounted, it adds extra weight to the gate that already has a 35" tire on it. I have too much stuff inside to mount it in there, and it gets in the way in the cargo area. It is bolted on the hood and I have never heard of one coming off in an accident. The same could also be said about adding a steel bumper with brush guard and a winch. I don't think anyone you hit would appreciate that over a plastic bumper either.

Trimmed. Pretty easy job, too. Get some masking tape, chalk, a few cut off wheels, a utility knife with some extra blades, and a roll of black door trim from Autozone. Mask off the line you want to cut, and mark it with the chalk. Hit it with the grinder, cut off the excess (the flares melt and goo up a bit so you'll have to clean it up with the utility knife) and then add your door trim to the edges to get a nice clean look.

So here's an update on my Jeep. After this video, I have not had any transmission issues. I did have some overheating issues most likely due to mud clogged from numerous bouts with mud in the radiator fins. That motor began to leak oil into the catalytic convertors on the passenger side. I replaced that motor in April of 2014, along with the full Y pipe and cracked manifolds. I hadn't wheeled for a year, and that motor broke the camshaft and was covered under warranty in April of 2015. This motor is doing fine so far. This is now the 4th motor in my 2007 Jeep. 1st motor replaced by Jeep for main bearing or something, 2nd motor over heating and oil issues, 3rd motor camshaft after 8k miles, and now I have 3k miles on this one and it's running fine. Only other major repairs to my Jeep since this video were Rubi axles with 5.13 gears since I bent an upper C on the front axle at Rausch Creek a couple years ago. I have recently replaced the radiator fan and the Jeep runs much cooler now. Ready to start making videos again when I get the time and money to go some places.

I installed it myself. It is the Rugged Ridge snorkel. It is cheaper than the others, and it doesn't require cutting the hood. Just pull off the piece of your cowl and it goes there. The part can go back on if you decide to sell the Jeep. If you want help installing something, just join a forum like JKFreaks.com and hook up with some locals and a mod party.

Sorry if I read your smiley face as sarcastic, which I did. Like I said, the JK has the break over advantage and turning radius. The JKU is better on hill climbs and I believe the wheelbase is better for rock crawling. That is why most of your competion rock crawlers are streched. I'm not defensive until I feel attacked. So I responded. I will settle for going in reverse once or twice to make a turn, or giving it more gas to break over a hill so I can tow my camper, pack more gear, and people.
