She is Kleinfeld's consultant for religious/modest brides. While is is Jewish, she also works with Muslim and Christian brides who want more modest dresses. They actually bring in a lot of their modest dresses from designers in Utah, where modest dresses are more is demand because of the high number of LDS brides who require, at minimum, covered shoulders. Many of them want long sleeves or inserts for the ceremony itself (which requires long sleeves) and they have shorter sleeves for the reception/ring ceremony. HOwever, there are a handful of Jewish designers there in NYC, too. They just don't necessary sell to Kleinfeld.

The next day was her wedding so her and I made some kind of cap sleeve for it she felt indecent all day. We have never even worn a tank top before and it felt odd to her. We spoke every night for 3 weeks when I realized I needed to end our friendship. I wasn’t going to move and I would never ask him to move. He wouldn’t have it! We met in less than 3 months and h survived my family. I knew when he stepped off the plane he was going to marry me, but said nothing. On the second visit he proposed when we were standing in a waterfall! Then, he returned home. He was back 1 month later and we saw an immigration lawyer who said we needed to wait 30 days before marrying. Actually, we think of it more as freedom. The guy only will look at his wife, and other people will look more at the women for their minds instead of their bodies. Curious,would a orthodox bride wear the dress without the shirt during the ceremony?
@Muus76Ай бұрын
@@tigertbalmno she wouldn’t. In an orthodox wedding, the bride is dressed modestly. Meaning, you don’t show elbows or your collarbones. :)
@justincase78486 күн бұрын
@@tigertbalma high quality store like kleinfeld offers the option of "building up" a gown by adding matching fabric to close up the neckline and add sleeves. In this video you see the consultant explaining that the sleeves would be lace. For regular dresses, we Orthodox Jews would pull a sleeveless dress off the rack and wear a shell (that stretchy shirt) underneath.

Admittedly I got excited from the thumbnail because I thought the top was part of the dress and I loved how it looked lol

In the past thirty years "shells" have become a staple of the Jewish wardrobe. Basically you can go to any secular store and buy anything with a neckline or sleeves that don't fit the modesty criteria, then take it to a store and choose from tens of different colors, fabrics, and styles of shells. Very often you can get the same exact shade and it looks like it's part of the dress or top. In addition to the religious factor, it's also great from a fashion perspective. There's a chain of stores called The Shell Station. Booming business!

You know what I love BEST about this video? The modesty of these women. Each one dressed respectfully, even the friend with the go-go boots looked modest but fashionable. One does not have to be slutty to be beautiful.We need more of this in our society. I bet the bride looked spectacularly stunning on her wedding day!

@@terimiddleton736No, it sounds like they're adding the sparkly lace to mimic where the shirt sits. I think she said she just doesn't want to be "seen" before the wedding, probably by anyone but the groom and her family.

Not dressed the way she was. I'm a little taken back that a matchmaker would be showing so much skin. They are Orthodox and modesty is paramount.
@DeathByBlonde18 ай бұрын
I might be off base here, but the matchmaker doesn’t necessarily need to be orthodox herself… she could be conservative or relaxed/reformed Jewish and still be a matchmaker. I watched several seasons of the Jewish Matchmaker and they were matching all kinds from all different backgrounds accordingly.
@ivettepassiglia49718 ай бұрын
@@DeathByBlonde1 you might be right but I cannot imagine that the orthodox would use a reform matchmaker. Look at everyone else there. She didn't fit in although she spoke like she knew. Just not what you would expect.
@gb28508 ай бұрын
@ deathbyblond. The matchmaker is orthodox but bending the rules. In the orthodox world we would say she is more modern. Her standards of modesty would be considered not ok by most orthodox people, however, like ALL cultures we have a continuum of people. Some are more conservative than others and some are more stringent than others. In fact, this is exactly what the matchmaking would accomplish - weeding out where you are on that continuum so that by the time you meet you have someone who is in a similar place

@@ivettepassiglia4971Maybe (?) for Orthodox Jews… but not for all Orthodox people, including lots of Orthodox Christians. My ex-husband was Orthodox (from Romania)…most of the religious ppl in Romania and Greece are Orthodox Christians and dress in a modern style rather than a conservative one. I was baptized in an Orthodox Church in Romania as an adult before we married. I remember that I tried on and fell in love with a strapless dress for our wedding and thought I would maybe need a shawl, bolero, etc. to cover my shoulders for the ceremony but that wasn’t even required.
