The body positivity movement saved me from dying from anorexia. There was suddenly this group of women continuously promoting self love. It helped me recover. It helped me survive. I wish everyone would stop associating it with big girls trying to promote being "unhealthy".

People forget that body positivity isn't about 'promoting obesity' but it's a movement to stop people from constantly criticising plus sized people because chances are, they would've already been through a lot in regards to their weight and they just don't want the stares and comments to make them feel even more worthless. Just because you're bigger, it does not mean that you're worthless.
@Mariol2254 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Thank you for sharing this comment. I'm plus size myself. I never say that it is healthy or that it doesn't come with low self esteeme, but definitely it doesn't mean people need to be mean to me or comment to make me 'aware' I'm fat. Like hello, I know this! Other thing is that it works both ways too. So even skinny people do not deserve constant comments on how skinny they are. In general...would be nice if people just did not comment size of your body unless they are asked to share their opinion.

Exactly! Acceptance and self-love lead to a better mindset that will help her get healthier all around. It all starts in the mind, any kind of recovery.
@buecherdrache14 жыл бұрын
Exactly. You can not loose weight in a healthy fashion, if you do it for others, you must do it for yourself. And for it work, you first need to accept, who you are. This is something so many people need to understand, wether they are the bullies or the bullied. And it doesn't just apply to obesity, but to every life choice someone makes.

The body-positive movement is not about health its about LOVE, and SELF WORTH. It fights for the separation of appearance with valuing yourself. NO matter someone's health or appearance they are beautiful and they are valuable just for being human and for being themselves.

@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr28233 жыл бұрын
Yeah, agree! I'm not that big, I'm only like a 14/16, but White House Black Market actually TOLD ME to get my clothes online! Were they PAYING for free return shipping? Hell, no! So, just because you're not a size 2 (starved myself to 117 once and all my guy friends said I looked like hell), YOU have to be inconvenienced personally. And it's not like their clothing is cheap in any way, despite ALL of it being made in China. Same store: size 12 pants. Size 14 jacket (they never stock them and I'm also busty, 36DD, which is the desired size of course) And 16 petite in a fitted dress! I think you're seeing a lot of fat people because there's much more to need/want to escape from. Many people don't have money for vacations or massages, but they CAN rent movies from the library and sit down with a box of Dove ice cream bars. A few vet or doctor bills and you can be way behind very fast. Thus, it makes you more tired and in need of a way to escape. So probably more sugar, fat and dairy/wheat. Or a combo of those. You might love fat with salt, fat with wheat (donuts) or sugar with fat with dairy (ice cream). But you wouldn't eat a bag of flour or sugar by itself. I'm personally over stores kind of dismissing NORMAL sized women that way.

Being bulimic myself, this hit me hard. I want to recover but it is extremely hard. It’s been going on 3 years now. I’m scared of the underlining health problems that come with it.
@umapuma4 жыл бұрын
As an ex-bulimic I suggest you to search for help. There are so much things going on (it's a physical addiction, literally your body is addicted to it, as well as psychical addiction). And it is just pointing some deeper emotional issues that need to be addressed. Alongside that, I suggest you to make an account for eating disorder recovery on instagram and follow coaches, recovered women and specialists who give concrete advices on how to cure it

When I was 13, all I wanted was to be a ballet dancer. I auditioned for a dance school and was told I was too big to ever be a dancer. I was also bullied at school and one of the people who bullied me called me a fat b*tch. This was only a few days after the rejection and it made me think that maybe I was too big. At the time I weighed 100 pounds most of which was muscle so I was slender and everyone close to me kept telling me I was slender but I stopped believing them bad stopped eating. I went down to 85 pounds in 6 months and ended up fainting in a dance class. I’m now 19 and whilst I do still struggle I’m much better now. To anyone struggling with this, that little voice is horrible but the best feeling in the world is turning around to it and saying P*ss off. I deserve to be healthy and you are not going to stop me. Keep going until you can say that

I think she's sweet and gorgeous, but I'm not crazy about tattoos on women showing. I only have one, of my favorite singer (Steve Perry) and I'd have to be wearing short bike shorts to even see it (upper thigh). I don't want anything to eclipse ME personally. It's not going to hide my weight or my size. I also want people to decide if they like me based on ME, not whatever tattoo I have. If they don't even know about it...

She looked beautiful in her dress! I’m a survivor of bullimia myself, I know how horribley isolating and degrading it is. The daily shame of “what am I doing to myself” and the constant stress of not being able to control yourself. I’m currently on my weight loss and recovery journey. I’m still learning to put “recovery” before the number on the scale, but I’m going in treatment soon with some wonderful women that I hope are gonna teach me to be more mindful of my actions and more intuitive with my body. You are beautiful even if you’re not your society’s standard of beauty. This bride has beauty with her, you can see it radiate when she’s happy. That’s when all of us are the most beautiful. I hope she has maintained a good relationship with her ED since this clip. It’s a lifelong battle, love, but it’s all worth the fight! You deserve love and acceptance! All of us do!
