This is the best version of this show: no big family fights, no mean mothers or sisters, no fat shaming... it's just the brides and her stories and personalities and it is amazing

I like the Irish one best. They have really nice dresses and you usually see more of them because they have less back story stuff. I mean it's OK once in a while but sometimes it feels like they'r'e using her story as an exhibit, rather than selling a dress.

I'm finishing my counseling degree right now and Gok is part wedding dress consultant part counselor. He actually uses CBT theories, especially reframing automatic negative thoughts. very effectively.
@MoonMagickMayhem3 жыл бұрын
I noticed this too. Unfortunately I didn't get to finish my degree as I was in my early 20s when I went to college and my financial aid fell through because of my age... you have to have a parent signature if you're under 25, as you're considered a dependent student even though my mom, my only parent died when I was 18. So they pulled my grant. Then I got pregnant with my oldest daughter at 23 and my life became a huge rollercoaster. I'm now 33 and finally at a good place in life after a lot of tragedy. When my little ones start school, I thinknI want to go back. My passion for psychology and helping others help themselves, while always working on myself, has never faded. My life just took a different path for a while. And I know I'd be better at helping others with how much I've grown and learned. Congrats on being close to completion and I wish you all the best! 💜🌙

I’m so surprised they even have plus sized sample sizes! It’s so refreshing. Personally I’m quite small as I deal with anorexia, so I don’t quite know how it feels to shop as someone plus size with limited options. But I do know how it feels to walk into a clothing store and not even have a size 00 fit me. This was at my worst. And it was mortifying. I felt so ashamed. And of course it’s different because they shouldnt make clothing for emaciated people as it just glorifying it in a way. but these women certainly deserve to feel beautiful as any other woman would, and I know how shitty it can feel for nothing to fit you. This is my first time watch GOK, I usually only watch the American version. Im so impressed with the inclusiveness, I’ve never seen plus sized sample sizes. As well as a therapy session and whimsical dresses? A++++!

@_kikizaman_2 жыл бұрын
@@Toastymosty69 you can be beautiful at any size. I disagree with health as every size, but beauty is subjective therefore you cannot say that one is not objectively beautiful because it doesn’t appeal to you. I don’t think people mean the size itself is beautiful, they’re saying that you as a person can still be beautiful. Anyone at any size can be beautiful. I’m anorexic and underweight, and just because I’m underweight doesn’t mean that I don’t deserve to feel beautiful. And I do feel beautiful at times. I don’t think my size is beautiful, but my size isn’t everything and it shouldn’t exclude me from being considered beautiful. I think that’s more so what they meant by beauty at every size, which I fully agree with.
@Toastymosty692 жыл бұрын
@@_kikizaman_ if the size isn't beautiful than how can the person still be considered beautiful? That doesn't make sense.
@_kikizaman_2 жыл бұрын
@@Toastymosty69 because you are not just your size. I’m underweight and I don’t consider my size beautiful. But I’m more than my size. When I get dolled up I do think I look beautiful, because I look at my face and sometimes on a good day see something I like. Sometimes you have to look past your size, and no matter what size you are doesn’t mean that shouldn’t feel beautiful. Self loathing is directly associated with anorexia. I need to love myself and realize that I am beautiful in order to recover. So while some people think that saying someone’s not beautiful because of their size may help motivate them, it’s the opposite. My ED started because of self hatred. I’m slowly starting to like myself, and to recover and become healthy I need to realize that I’m beautiful regardless of my size. Because I’m more than my size. If I don’t feel beautiful regardless of my size, the minute I start gaining weight I’ll start hating myself again. I need to look past my size and realize that I am beautiful, and on confident days sometimes I feel like I am. It all goes so much deeper than surface level; my Ed was caused my self hatred, and my recovery will begin with self love.

An Auntie Gok episode makes even the worst day much better, and a good day fantastic. Love how positive and supportive Gok is of all his brides.

I've never cried watching these shows before but as soon as she put that dress on I started crying. She looks so stunning and I'm so proud of her and how far she's come.

She looks absolutely beautiful and getting back to living her best life with a little help from Auntie Gok! Love this!!!💜 “So go out and live real good and I promise you'll get beat up real bad. It's not gonna matter if you have a few scars. It will matter if you didn't live.” - Rich Mullins

Gok is a therapist first and bridal consultant later. He's just so so special. And he should be preserved. This version in itself is so wholesome without the unnecessary drama. ❤️❤️ Gok. & The bride is beautiful. She's a battle queen. I hope & pray that she never has to go through anything bad in her life.

This is why I like this version of say Yes to the dress most. It really is about the person getting married and only them being as happy and comfortable in that happiness as possible. I could care less about the price tag. What I loved was that Gok did exactly what said he was going to do: put her in a clean classic dress that lets her shine through. She didn't need to cover herself she needed to define herself from her past experience and learn to see the beautiful woman she still is, inside and out. If you have no idea what it's like to completely lose your health and try to recover the fact that she's gotten this far in only 2 years is exceptional and says a lot about her as a person. Let that person shine through because that's really beautiful to me as it took me eight years to recover and people like her are why I changed careers to do peer support work. Debilitating change can obliterate your sense of self-esteem regardless of what's in the mirror. However long-term difference between recovering and a lifetime of suffering sometimes is being able to see yourself as victorious rather than a victim. Nobody wants to see somebody permanently suffering with no improvement because it terrifies the mind. It's a terrifying State too. That perspective shift is hard, but having good role models and support around you can make what feels like a powerless simple situation become incredibly powerful for that person and people around them. A good example is this right here, when she looked in the mirror feeling confident suddenly the very things she wanted to cover became paddle scars to show what you overcome. And I bet you felt inspired and powerful seeing her find that for herself. She hadn't changed as a human being, but she did see herself differently as a response to support and help to flip her perspective. And inspiring people help others overcome their own battles, whether it's health or everyday life struggle. I love my work because I get to lift up other people who lift up others by example. All it took is helping them to see the very same things a little differently and with someone who understands how to make that happen supporting you. And now I'm all fired up to go to work! Yes to this show and more of this boutique, stories like this and just more Gok because he really does give me a damn about the people he is dressing and it's so good to watch.

I've watched quite a few of these SYTTD vids recently, but this is the first one that made my jaw drop. The first dress did nothing for her, but the second dress ... Wow! I literally gasped. She looks gorgeous in that one; just the boost her confidence needed!

This was so beautiful to watch. The happiness it brought back to her about her new body was really special! ❤ It give myself confidence back because I was also a size 6 and now put on alot of weight after an accident. Although mine was no where near as traumatising! So happy for her!
