Even the Wedding itself shows it. But I think her simple wedding with the natural background is far more beautiful than the expensive rental places with all the expensive decor.The idea of combining the old dresses from her family also shows this but the end result just didn't make her feel bridal. But she said the dress was still nice so she will probably wear it to something else. My guess is that they live a nice life but don't indulge in so much wasteful consumerism . Buying all the latest crap that won't be used.

My daddy worked 14 hours a day 6 days a week and my mother made all our clothes. 3 girls each had 3 new dresses each to start school every year and they were meticulously made with love to match the dresses on the racks at one of the top department stores where we lived. Another big question is why did she wait til 2-1/2 weeks before the wedding? Surely, the custom dress was completed prior to then. Also, it must take quite a bit of time to go through the application/approval process for SYTTD. It's all about the drama.

it might not've been. even the brides that order dresses 6+ months out are still going through alterations in the last couple weeks. i think my dress that i ordered online came in with a month to go? and i didn't have any alterations done. i could see if her dress came in on a similar time frame, and she was trying to talk herself into it because she felt so guilty, until she finally agreed to go shopping for another dress.

Oh, my. When she tried on the first dress, my thoughts were: "I see a girl and a dress that were clearly made for each other." She looked SO good in it! I've had same experiences with custom-made things (for which my mom paid) when I couldn't find the originals (ot they were too pricey). And I ended up hating them and buying the originals anyway. So I can understand her. Kudos to the dad, who understands her and doesn't blame her. We all have to try things in our lives, including custom-made designs that don't work well.

I used to make heirloom clothes for the infants and children of friends and family. Fine white cotton is quite expensive…fine silk much more so. What I made was free to the people I love, but when made to sell the skill and work of the seamstress gets very expensive very fast.

They all seem to be good hearted folks especially the Bride concerned about taking advantage of her father's generosity... It seemed like a beautiful home setting with a lovely venue just at home with immediate friends and family.. A dear friend of mine had a daughter getting married and they decided it was worth using the large fee for a catering hall: was better put to use to landscape their home (permanent) for the wedding. It was wonderful and heartfelt unlike the massive, costly productions some weddings can be. I wish many Blessings to this lovely couple.
