The Black Parade is a fan-made campaign for the original Thief in which you play the character of Hume, a hardened criminal who was sent into exile as a punishment for his crimes. The year is 833, and you are now back in The City, a sprawling metropolis of soot-caked brick, greasy fumes and noisy machinery, with many a sinister conspiracy whispered behind closed doors. Lost and without a penny to your name, you are back to your life of thievery and must find your old associate Dahlquist. Shadows and silence are your allies. Light is your enemy. Stealth and cunning are your tools. And the riches of others are yours for the taking.

I *felt* the moment when Amabel said "What is Mythbusters?" The dead silence for five whole seconds afterwards had me cackling. Especially because I grew up on a diet of that show, it was my main childhood watch material.

40:00 - You actually can recover mines _in Thief 2,_ and sadly not in Thief Gold. (They may have backported that feature to Hume in this mod, however; I haven't tested it myself.) You need to slowly approach--leaning forward helps extend your reach significantly--and use _either of your lockpicking tools_ to disarm the mine, allowing you to pick it up as an item! The inclusion of the "cameo" during this mission was a good surprise! Funnily enough, I still have not played Thief 3 myself, so I was entirely going off your playthrough for context on who she was, which is a fun loop. I like that the texts mentioning her are vague enough throughout the mission that it's unclear whether she's _actually present right now_ or just staying here and mentioned only, meaning that people pretty universally get about one floor upwards and then go "oh no she's here and _fully functional as a character in this engine"_ Now, the bit where I'd say that panicked search through the area doesn't work? There's a secret door at the top of that chamber that brings you right back to your apartment in about a minute of climbing, and _we both missed it._ I actually had to look up how to get into a room at the end because I _thought_ I had scoured the entire level and still couldn't get into a couple of buildings that had interiors, and it turns out that one can only be accessed through that secret passage. There's also a bunch of lorebooks in there to read, as it is a library, and that absolutely kills the momentum of the chase. I also think that the room is designed so that it is almost impossible to ghost through it, forcing a confrontation with her; there's just too much tile and she's too perceptive. She won't start her tricks until she actually sees you, which gives you a little leeway, but she can also traverse basically the entire space no matter how many moss arrows you use. Overall, I like the concept but I feel like encountering her in an antechamber, giving you the chance to lose her within that space, and then seeking safety inside the top of the library while listening to her rampaging around a floor below you would have been much more tense while also being more mechanically satisfying.
