What Pablo means is that maybe, Filipino syllabicates- that is, words are broken down into syllables (as in Japanese) where you have a consonant-vowel combination. Josh's observations are on point too. There's only one "t" sound in Filipino- but in English, you have a different "th" for "thing" and another "th" sound in "there" and a "t" sound in "talk." Filipinos usually substitute a "d" sound for "th" words (so "then" is spoken as "den"). Also, words beginning with a "wh" are typically pronounced by English speakers in reverse- with the "h" sound coming first, followed by the "w" (so "when" should be spoken as "hwen" or "whale" should be spoken ad "hwale"). But Filipinos normally pronounce "whale" as "wail." When you have a noun/verb like "kisses" the final "s" should sound like a "z" ("kissez" for "kisses"). You also have the same "z" sound for "s" that comes after a long vowel sound (so "please" is spoken as "pleaze" but "kiss" is spoken as "kiss" because the "s" sound follows a short- not long- vowel sound). On the other hand, Filipinos use the "s" sound whenever the word is spelled with an "s." It's the same with the "p" sound. If it's in the initial position you add a slight "h" sound after ("popcorn" is spoken as "phopcorn") but when it's at the middle ("slipper") or at the end ("slip"), you don't add an "h" sound. But to humor foreigners, you can ask them to pronounce "ngipin" (teeth)- it's almost impossible for them to pronounce the "ng" in the initial position because English NEVER uses "ng" that way. They only know how to speak it when it's located in the middle of the word ("singing") or at the end ("sing"). ^_^ Overall, this interview is amazing- and Lydia's reactions are always interesting (I think I did see her and her friends in the front row while SB19 was performing).

@@DarkR0ze I was an English major- like Pablo. So I get his predisposition to use metaphors, puns, and language play. The only difference from how artists usually use puns and the way Pablo uses it- Pablo actually cross-linguistically uses PUNS to make connections between sound and meaning not only within a single language but between two innately different languages from two different cultures. Pablo is nothing short of brilliant/ genius if you ask me because Japansese humor is almost incomprehensible in translation since the puns are ONLY in Japanese (puns are the hardest if not impossible to translate). But Pablo is able to make puns connecting the sounds in English and Tagalog with the meanings of those words in either language. ^_^

wow thanks Lydia I love your reaction. I also love this interview and it's not boring. I'm so happy that you learned a lot about our language. And I've notice that many foreigners find Justin accent so cute hehe.

They were having good interviews maybe because they are involve in creating their music and the production...and also our boys are always very enthusiastic to share their knowledge and experiences to anyone, it adds up to the mood of the whole interview. And the mood transcends to Ms. Lydia. 😁

Pablo said i can pin point who among the audience who cheered very loud and knows to sings our songs. That's the MANANANGGALS SQUAD, and of course SB19 knows Lydia, imagine your channel have 400 SB19 content already, and in return for being generous, kind and genuine fans to SB19 I won't skip the ads for every reaction video you made for SB19. Hugs and kisses from Taiwan. 🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼

I'm a Filipino & I don't have problems with my English , so long as my audience or who I'm talking with..., understand it., no problems with the accent .pronounce .....Even Americans in different States have different accent ,not to mention British English .., the only thing in singing English songs, the way you pronounced it must be clear , including accent , so that the audience can understand fully !!! Mostly Filipinos the problems lies with what to say next ,you have to think ,resulting to stutter a bit especially during an interview ; & mostly some are perfectionist copying the American / British accent / pronounce !!!
