Really love the usage of Filipino folk instruments in ALAMAT songs, if their songs have it, it really gives me like a modern take on Filipino folk music, and that's such a very important part of our culture. Honestly, I just really appreciate that because it fits so well too but not to mention, their songs all tend to be REALLY GOOD TOO! I also really love that real recognizes real. I always watch reaction videos of Alamat when they release a new song but this time it feels different I'm so so happy, I've been a fan of SB19, 4 years ago and still a fan but I didn't get be an active A'Tin. I'm the only one who's listening to them in our house since Go Up went viral, I don't care if my fam gets annoyed while I'm watching Go Up dance practice repeatedly. They don't have much songs that time so I tend to listen to their songs on loop. I've become a Magiliw since predebut and now they're here. 😭😭 I'm so proud. I'm always happy when they get to have small interactions or maybe just talking about each other. Thank you so much for this I'll share this to my fam. They also know Alamat because of me. ◠‿◠

I can't place what genre the song fits into. I now think it is trying to define a new subgenre within P-pop (roughly, ethnic electropop ballad), which may or may not gain traction, and SB19's support can go a long way towards making this happen. Not just this reaction video, it is great that they are doing this, but also if they contribute songs to help define this emergent subgenre. I think "Walang Hanggan" can be characterized as ethnic electropop in a P-pop ballad. P-pop ballad means that it is a slow narrative-lyrical song that will appeal to the OPM and global audience for pop ballads, but it is done in a P-pop style with distinctively recognizable vocal timbres, and building up to sophisticated complex vocal harmonies. OPM solo artists can't do this, because they are solo. Electropop refers to exploiting synthesizers and modern music production technology in the backing track and vocal layering, in this song the drum beat pops out. Ethnic calls out what is always distinctive about Alamat's concept, they use ethnically distinctive instruments (in this instance a banduria, from the rondalla folk tradition, along with the sampled acoustic guitar) and ethnic themes in the music video (Jao's folk religiosity, Tomas' cemetery visit climbing out of a tricycle, down to small details like how Alas sits on the ground in an Asian squat, the calesa wheels on R-Ji's bench, or the flag colors as Jao walks toward the church carrying devotional candles).

Unfortunately Hori7on sings in Korean and has been included now as Kpop with all pinoy talents. So Hori7on is not Ppop if you actually see or think about it. They been featured now in Kpop groups as Kpop talents but pinoy breeds. SB19 were once trained under Korean management and owned by tatang, but he let them sing in filipino and let Pablo freely write the songs for the group.

@@franwohlwend4312 Hori7on is is being positioned by their management as Global Pop, neither K-pop or P-pop but both. The Korean idol industry has tried several times to develop international groups, but other than Japan-targeted groups there hasn't been much success. Hori7on looks like they can succeed in the Korean market, as well as the Philippine market, and start to have world impact. There is nothing wrong with singing in Korean, all ethnicities deserve support for what they can contribute, and singing in another language is a step forward. Hori7on is showing that Filipino talents can develop careers from the much wealthier Korean market. OPM creates careers domestically, but is not as large or wealthy as Korea's music market. Hori7on's management has helped them create lots of content with high production values, and release a full album in record time after debuting (even compared to Korean groups). Philippine talent management agencies don't have the budget or connections to replicate that. Hori7on deserves the support of P-pop fans. If you are worried that their output doesn't reflect unique Filipino culture, well they are still a very new group. It will take some years for their to find their own artistic voices, in the meantime it is better to hit the ground running.
