#4 Changing Oil On A Carrier Comfort Pro APU

Doing an oil change on a Carrier Comfort Pro diesel APU is not difficult. This video will show how I did it since it is a bit tight in there.

I totally agree with the not waiting for 1000 hrs before changing the oil. My manuel says every 2000 hrs. But I'm not doing that.

I changed the oil and diesel filters and it does want to start. Do I need to bleed it?

You may have air in the fuel system. If that's the case you will need to bleed it. When you change fuel filters it's best to do one filter at a time to minimize the risk of air getting in the system. Plus, make sure you prefill the spin on filter with clean diesel. That also minimizes the chance of air getting in. Not to say it can't happen though. If your not comfortable trying to bleed it, take it to a shop.

If I remember correctly, it was 5w30 synthetic. I may be wrong on the weight, but it was definitely synthetic.

Oh my mistake. This was for my APU. I apologize. I was thinking of a video I did for my go kart. In the APU I used 10W30 Shell Rotella Synthetic Blend. Sorry about that.

Can you use a fram oil filter if so what is the part number?

You would have to take the Carrier part number and check with an auto parts store to have them cross reference it with Fram. If they make a filter you could use it. I know WIX makes a filter. I just prefer OEM stuff.

The oil is nothing special. Get it at any parts store. Get the filter from Carrier and then once you have the part number you can have a parts store cross reference it so you can get it at a parts store next time.

I like to use Shell Rotella 10w30 synthetic blend. But you can use whatever suits you.
