SBMM and EOMM Explained - The Difference

15:30 I literally started this KZbin channel to show off my brother who plays console with one hand. I’ve explained this SBMM/EOMM concept to him, and he absolutely HATED the idea of rigging the game based on skill, or how well you did the last few games, or disbanding the lobbies after each match. And I know it’s anecdotal, but from his experience, he enjoyed the newer games much less because if it. In fact, his FAVORITE game has always been the OG MW2, back when this issue was not as prevalent

Put it this way guys. We now live in an era where because of data, you can now “rig” a game before its even started. So in essence based solely on numbers/data they have on each profile. The matchmaking can match people and determine to a probability which team is more likely to win. Scary to think about because essentially the games decided before it’s even begun.

There is one more distinction that is very important. SBMM usually considers lifetime performance in the form of MMR, like an Elo rating in chess for example. EOMM, on the contrary, only takes recent performance into account, hence the extremely inconsistent experience that is there by design.

EOMM in MW3 has made me rage harder than any game has ever made me rage. Physical anger. I haven't played multiplayer in nearly a week and I'm not going back. I'm only playing zombies now, and not because it's a good zombies experience, because it's not. I'm only playing zombies because I've already payed for the game so I might as well play it a bit.

It seems like when a COD game becomes “last years” game, SBMM is irrelevant. The connection is better, you play with all the same people, and the games don’t feel so random. You still have good games and bad games, but they aren’t being rigged, since there isn’t enough players for SBMM to fully work and the system has to revert to “ping is king” kind of match-making.

I know I'm in the minority but I personally enjoy sbmm. Older CoD games were filled with so much bs like death streaks and noobish features to help bad players. Even when I had a good game like going 50-5 or whatever I'd still be mad if those 5 deaths felt bs. Now I'll have games where I go like 20-15 but I feel better knowing I was simply out played on those 15 deaths. There are downsides. I definitely miss using high kill streaks and using goofy classes. But overall I have a better time in sbmm lobbies.

Expect it’s not when EOMM is literally RIGGING the game in real time. I’ll take death streaks or whatever “noob” stuff I know is coming over having hidden manipulation intentionally trying to make me lose for being better…

You were NOT simply out-played by another player when Activi$ion is literally putting AI bots in the game that have 100% accuracy, or when they raise your ping because you went positive (20-15 LOL ) and you played too well. But if you feel like it’s organic, then they did their job well, and convinced you it’s not rigged when it’s been demonstrated that it is. If you enjoy it, more power to you !! Don’t let us stop you

Sbmm isn’t that bad of a concept because it’s basically putting you up against other players with similar skills to you. Most people dislike sweaty players but I want to play with sweats because I want a challenge! Sadly, EOMM is ruining the experience and I have to work around EOMM by camping to keep my KD up to play against sweats

All of it is crippling in my opinion. Every game is a janky disaster and it can't be my internet as I have gigabit. Still lagging and shots are inconsistent as can be. Only thing I disagree with is your take on a "protective bracket". Know what, all it does is give people who reverse boost an advantage while people who just play are having a horrible experience. Poorly comparable, but, I've always wanted to race cars and get to a high level doing it.. Guess what, I can't and never will due to my eyes and financial reasons. I shouldn't be able to steal someone's racecar and get to race at a high level because of it.

Eomm is really evil stuff, it exists in dota 2 and league which is why i quit the latter! im trying to spread the word about it! is street fighter 6 safe from this stuff?

I don't know but EOMM has been patented by Sony so its coming to single player games :(

Good players dont want to play vs good players... that's what i understand about this. They want to destroy easier lobby or play whatever build they want. I will need to play like a sweat and use the meta build vs them just to get a 0.5kd without SBMM. SBMM should stay imho but EOMM should be removed. If SBMM is working correctly to have a .75 to a 1.2 kd together for example, EOMM isn't usefull at all. They should expand the range permitted by SBMM without locking it to 1.1kd only. Another topic, I would suggest to remove Rotational aim assist completly and remove some % of aim assist let's say 20%. Skill wise, that would reflect more correctly the skill and awareness of different players vs having a controller only EOMM type advantage at the same KD. It's not said to sound rude or anything or start things between M&K vs controller or whatever. I really think a 1.2kd M&K is a better player than a 1.2kd controller player. They put an advantage to compensate the limitation of controller and i can understand that. But you can't be against removing some AA or RAA and complain about EOMM to even the field. What do you think?

Based on your first statement alone I assume you are one of the low skilled players being protected by sbmm and you don't really understand why people are raging over this. I'm not going to read the rest.

@@thenameless5038 are you playing on controller? If so, you can't judge years of aiming. I'm not a pro not even close but i dont strafe left right while holding L2 to win. Maybe SBMM is set for lower skilled player afterall and you should be able to farm them every game. RAA and AA remove skill gap. If you're on controller, you dont really understand why player are raging over this. I'm not going to read the rest
