Hey Nero, honestly what is their reasoning behind SBMM. I've also been playing COD since COD 4 and when i first started playing that game i was a noob and my main matches would be 5-12, 7-19, 11-15. All of us started off bad and eventually got better, that's a joke they have to cater to these new players when the OG players had to learn and grind the game without anyone holding our hands.

Never forget December 19, 2015 where they tested SBMM on us in BO3. The entire internet exploded and they reverted the changes less than 12 hours later. They knew what they were doing, they knew we hated it, but here we are today. Im surprised nobody talks about this, I remember that day vividly playing my normal FFA matches when they suddenly turned into sweatfests.

I think part of the problem is exactly what ya said, you won’t leave. If COD KZbinrs left switched to some other game to focus on like Halo who is seeing a slight increase in player numbers after recent seasons, it puts pressure. But reality is it’s hard to pivot like that. SBMM has been killing cod for awhile and until people vote with almighty dollar nothing will change no matter the low review scores or general fan response.

The only hope is that when XDefiant drops with no SBMM, the delay actually gave them time to make the game amazing and it pulls people away from CoD. Nothing will ever change with CoD until the player numbers drop leading to less MTX revenue and that won't happen until there is something else for people to play and for content creators to make content about. I'm not holding my breath that XDefiant will do that though, unfortunately. I have zero faith in modern gaming anymore when it comes to the FPS genre. It's all about player retention and sales (duh) but at the expense of fun.

They could do that.. But, it would kill their channel.. People sub to a Cod channel for Cod, if there is no Cod, people will leave. We have seen this plenty of times before, people end up just quitting making videos and start streaming instead cause it attracts a variety of viewers not just Cod players. Cod KZbinrs are essentially stuck with Cod, whether they like it or not.

I feel like winning games being tied to the armory system has something to do with it as well. If I win “too many” in a row it will start putting me in games in progress losing by a wide margin or will start 4 or 5 versus 6 and never fill the other players..

I really felt this one Nero. My night was pretty much just like you described I finished my shift at work came home, tended to the family then settled in for a hour or two of cod. I played 5 matches and I had to work my butt off to break even or go negative and lose 4 out of 5 games in what felt like a second job rather than a fun hobby. I just shut my PlayStation off and went to bed disappointed.

The most depressing thing is, I held a 2.5+ kd and positive win loss ratio in every call of duty until AW. Since AW my KDR slowly dwindled, now I'm sweating for a 1.4. And when you're mentioning KEM strike wendesdays, I haven't had a nuke in like 3 years... Nothing about online multiplayer in CoD games is fun anymore, the series has totally lost its identity.

I'm at that point where I get home from work and have to decide if I really want to get on cod after that long day but because of sbmm I usually just decide to not play. I get no joy out of getting on a game where I have to carry bad teammates every match or I just lose every game. I'm losing majority of games while having so many kills and my team has almost none. I can guarantee if I went in to my games and put in the same amount of work as my team that I'd lose literally EVERY match. I am the single deciding factor on whether my team wins or loses.

They need to give us the option to play in SBMM lobbies or SBMM free lobbies and see what the people decide. That way new players can ramp up the skills/enjoy the gameplay in low skill lobbies before moving into the wild.

Bo2 had a system for that called combat training. Could go in there against mosty bots and 1 human and none of the stats carried over just lvl and gun xp. Was a good system for new people to go into before multiplayer. But multiplayer was fun anyways and not sweaty 24 7 😂

SBMM is indeed getting to the point for me where it feels like peak ranked in BO2. Every game feels like a competitive lobby. Often times im top 2 on the leaderboard but it feels like my bottom 3 teammates aren't even trying. Like its sbmm for me and the enemy but not for my team haha. Similar to you I play a lot of obj dropping 40ish kills but damn do i have to play like a sweaty. Its suppose to be casual but it doesnt feel like it.

The most fun I had playing cod was when I started with cod4 and world at war. I wasn’t the best at Cod4 when I started. I was 0.8kd my first month and after 6 months of hard work I made it to 1.36kd overall. It was rough at the start and was losing a lot of gun fights but I kept playing, learning and slowly improving every week. When world at war came out I played non stop on the open beta and by the time the game came out I was destroying lobbies. The journey of seeing yourself progress from a weak player to going positive, to top of the match scoreboard was amazing. You could see this with your kd rising slowly overtime. You had to put in alot of time and work into it and were rewarded. However, now with SBMM you never see your progress. You could practice all day and night and you will still feel like you made no progress because you will get out in your place by how SBMM works. Heck, Kd doesn’t even mean anything anymore since assists count towards it. Lobby leaderboards were amazing because you could see peoples score per minute and kd in your lobby. If people were higher kd, you went tryhard mode and it was enjoyable and competitive. If people were lower kd you used different weapons you needed to grind for skins. It was perfect back then. Hopefully we will go back to the OG.

SBMM feels less strict to me this year. I’m an average player, on PS5. 4 games out of 5 I get players “significantly” better than me. Then I get one game when I do ok. This tells me the very good players are getting into my lobby 80% of the time, which is more than last year. This implies to me SBMM is less strict this year. Team-balancing-match-making is something different which I can’t comment on.

See, sweats are the only ones that are affected by SBMM. I am a casual player, my K/d is 0.77, I work 6 days a week, 10 hours a day, and go log on for an hour or so is fun and SBMM doesn’t affect me, yes I am protected, I am not a sweat. As a casual player, the game is fun. This game doesn’t flow like the original Mw2 from 2009, but it’s very nostalgic.

The game has been like this since MW2019, I went from being a high performing 2KD player to a flat 1KDR on MW2019, I barely even got any streaks because the games were just stupidly close, I ended up playing exclusively gunfights as I couldn't bare to deal with my team getting nerfed by 3 billygoat57's whilst I sweat against clones of myself. Cold War was more fun but still suffered the same problems in 6v6 where you'd fight for the objective 24/7 and lose 200-189 anyway. If they want their game to success ping needs to be king again, leave the strict skill matchmaking to RANKED GAME MODES like every other game does.

I think the only way to change SBMM would be to stop playing as a whole community. Activision would not generate revenue and would need to change that. What sucks is that people that aren’t very good at the game notice this because they are in the protected bracket🤷‍♂️

Played for 20 years, by far the worse CoD for SBMM. Making connection even worse. I used to play OG MW3 for about 10 hours+ on days off and didnt feel knackered. Now 1 hour is enough on MWIII 🤣 Having a blast in Zombies with mates. When have a busy day, everyday, last thing is wanting to sweat it out. Id love to see stats somehow on how much money people are spending on bundles. Because I cant see many wanting to buy anything on this mess.

war is the mode. you find a variety of players there. it can feels sometimes that you are carrying less skill players but enemy has the same issue too.

Packet burst is a design of their sbmm. It’s the servers trying to alter your gameplay in game.

I was heavy on the camo grind first couple weeks of release but SBMM and my camo progress not tracking really killin it for me. Went back to Valorant/Fortnite lol

Sbmm will never go away. If anything it's only going to get worse. I personally stopped caring because it doesn't matter how much we talk about it. It will always be in the games.
