I went to Xi’an once in 2002, no metro, old airport, the new big plaza just finished, the driver/tour guide told us the city is so old even their dog food bowls are often antique. Xi’an museum and Buddha relic temple displaying the rarest green color china and unbelievable gold thread woven are unforgettable. Now that I’m retired and Covid is relaxed, I plan to visit Xi’an next spring and hope to follow the Silk Road in this trip. Thank you for the video.

Just when I am about to give up on America, someone comes along and opens my eyes to see angels live among...well war mongers. Thanks so much Samantha for reminding me that even in America, there are people who are capable of redeeming it.
@thefourthrabbit9516 Жыл бұрын
Although I understand what you meant, your comment is needlessly insultful to ordinary American people, because of your assumption. What some warmongering politicians say does not represent the will of the people (especially with the broken democratic process in the US today) and it is absurd to ask the powerless people to "redeem" whatever crimes you think are committed by the powerful. It does not take an Angel to see what's happening in China and report it as it is. It just takes a normal person with an open mind. I am sure there are plenty of such people in the US as well as in China, who are just awaiting more opportunities to travel across the Pacific and work together in the future.
@WanderingSword Жыл бұрын
@@thefourthrabbit9516What are talking about. There are still MANY Americans who believe in the anti-China propaganda fed to them. And without people like Angel to report the positive things about China, Americans would never change. It is people like Angel reporting the positives about China that will slowly and eventually change Americans' attitude. To say that "It does not take an Angel to see what's happening in China and report it as it is"... tells me that you don't live in the US, because if you do live in the US, then you would NEVER find any American mainstream media reporting anything positive about China.

Don't be sucked in by hate. That's what the misleading media and military complex wants. A lot of citizens in US/UK are nice people, unlike their politicians.
@dkblack128911 ай бұрын
@@thefourthrabbit9516 I do apologise if you feel insulted, but remember, all governments are representative of its people. You may not actively be supporting its policies, but passivity is the fertile ground for evil to thrive. You should be asking yourself: What kind of governance that has produced the China Miracle. Maintraeam media denigrate that miracle as "Communist" as if communism were evil. America political system and its dictatorial security state are so frightened of social media which shows that communism has produced a miracle in 40 short years while the so called American democracy has produced a debacle. At personal level, I do not expect you to abandon what you are doing and go on a crusade to censure your government for lying to you about China, but if you have enjoyed this channel which I suspect you have, and which has opened your eyes to your lying goverment- militrary- media- industrial complex, share the link with friends and colleagues before they shut Sam out as being paid by the Chinese Goverment.

Samantha: At 22 min 58 sec of the video when you let the “train kite” fly…that moment brought me such an intense emotional and spiritual awakening that I actually cried. It was beautiful…beautiful…living art that left me in awe…thank you. If I were an ancient Chinese kite flyer living in Xi’an, I can easily feel how that moment would give me such an uplifting religious experience…a connection to God and the universe. As a fourth year university student studying international politics I also think that the image of an American and her Chinese acquaintances launching a kite “together” was quite a symbolic moment for peace and cooperation that should exist between the two countries. World peace…one kite at a time. Congratulations on your program for capturing a bit of the meaning of human existence on Earth. ❤Diane, Vancouver, Canada. SaDE09/23. 08:02 am

18:03 I think you asked a very meaningful question. 70 years ago China's urban rate is < 10%, so over 90% of Chinese are farmers/peasants living rural life; today it's 65% urbanization, this transition happens within 3 generations. A typical family today have grandparents who live a whole life in rural, the core couple who grew up in rural then moved into cities after higher education, and grandkids who are born and raised completely in cities. A village like Yuan's, which is close to a big city like Xi'An, represents a nostalgia of a family's rural legacy, a life style which younger generation would not experience. And for visitors from other parts of China, this rural landscape & culture is different from their home ones becuase of the unique terrain and weather in northwest.

Xi'an has changed a lot since I left in the late 90s, or you can say it hasn't changed that much at all... after all, what's 30 years worth of comparing to what she has experienced during past thousands of years ? The city has this unbeaten calmness and dignified modesty associated with it, and it influences its people. Growing up in Xi'an I never understood that, after visiting so many different cities around the world and living in some of the largest cities in the U.S., now I fully understand where you can trace back that modesty and calmness ... Hopefully one day not so far into the distant future, I will grab that backpack and hope on a bike, ride along those familiar routes along the Loess Plateau dotted with hundreds of Emperor's tombs. I never appreciated it when I was young, but I bet it will feel much different this time when I visit these once-great men in the boundless Chinese history...
