See those inky fingers. A true pen person...lol

I have two Franklin Christophs, both with FC stub nibs. One is an 02 model in black cathedral, the other a green model 20. I like the way they write. One of the pens has threads at the distal end of the section, and if you dip the pen in the ink to refill it, it does indeed get ink on them. However, I don't dip the pen; I take the converter out and fill it with a syringe. It's been a while since I visited the FC website, so was pleased that they have begun to make some quite colorful, less conservative models now, somewhat "Benu-like," but less radical.

I fill the converters and empty cartridges the same way. Have for some time now. It seems less haphazard and takes no additional time or trouble, although getting the ink to the nib has proven tricky at times. A small drop or two added to the feed often gets things going.....

Hey there Stephen. I know I’m late to the party, but I just wanted to say that I have this pen and I love it. I bought it when it was an IPO at 150 which was a great buy. What I LOVE about this pen is that it is really well balanced and comfortable in the hand even for long sessions. Having added a Nagahara Fine Cursive Italic nib it always produces a lovely writing product for me. I liked it so much I bought another in the Polar Ice Maya (at full price🤣) and it is gorgeous. I keep them on my desk and whenever i pick them up I truly enjoy the writing experience and the finished product. If you like big pens, which I do, this is one to consider especially as you said with the optional grinds.

It is a beautiful pen. I had my nib on the King of Pen ground by Nagahara. It is exceptional! As for the threads at the end of the section, if the threads are flat and there is a wide space between the threads, it should be no problem. When you fill a pen from a bottle of ink, you get ink on the section anyway and it is necessary to have something to wipe off the ink. Great review! A worthy pen at a reasonable price.

Marvellous pen with that outstanding nib. A lot of fun and unique style. The pouch is a thoughtful touch. A good pen for really black Indian ink.

Oh, no! Another sore temptation from Franklin-Christoph. I started with the Model 20 in a nice vintage green, slowly added some special finishes (cathedral), a CI nib (Purpura), meant to get a 66 Pocket but "mistakenly" got the desk size -- and have had it inked ever after, all joined by some recent partnerships with different resins. I admit it...I'm a pen addict, particularly fond of Franklin-Christoph.

I have a model 20 as well (red) and was told by the nibmeister to fill the converter to avoid having too much ink in the section due to dipping in a bottle.

Wonderful review. I love Solid Black Pens to begin with but this is exceptional. I'm sold, but I have already committed to a $200.00 pen this month, but there is always next month. Thank you for the review. As for the section threads, I like this approach and it works for me. I have several pens which use this capping approach and they do not cause me difficulties with inky fingers. They DO appear innovative and, for some reason, more substantial. They may allow the closed pen to be more streamlined.

Doctor Professor Brown, I just noticed that the tail of your quick brown fox logo for your channel looks like a nib with two slits and two breather holes! Better late than never, as they say. Thanks for the excellent review.

Fine review. Thanks! I'm gratified that Franklin-Christoph have a nibmeister -- Federmeister? -- on staff. Reminds me of Italix. Threads at the end of the section are going to hold more ink than a smooth section, so more ink is lost. As noted in this conversation, filling the cartridge/converter separately avoids this.

Good review as always. However, the lighting made it very difficult to see the details of the pen

Thanks for another great review. If money were no object- and you were going with a broad stub nib -would you choose gold or steel?

Looks like ye olde safety pens (I associate with sketching), minus all that functionality. Lovely nib.

Stephen, great review as always, but the lighting was horrible, sorry. I don't even know what color that pen actually was. You can do better! Cheers!

I’m sure with fingers like you have in this video is what caused people to adopt Biro’s The nib looks to be superb Not a fan of the pen 🖊️ Are the tuned nib’s available for other pens?

They sell all their nibs separately. They come in a screw-in housing, which I doubt fits too many other brands.

If the asking price includes the custom ground nib, I think it is reasonable.

I've not watched your pen reviews for... a few years now (I guess KZbin has been hiding you). ...but you don't have the same energy as you usually do with your reviews. You are quieter and seem like you're going through the motions but with little joy. I hope you're okay.

Love F-C pens, however this profile isn’t for me. It seems a cross between a mini baseball bat and shoe horn seen from above. Totally subjective, but closed…ugh. Looks better uncapped to be fair.
