Great video and I have watched them all. At 6:59 it looks like a deer got up in the sun lit opening at 100 yards and ran to it's left. Maybe that was the deer that the dogs got on and were behind on the track. Capt. Buster is having a good year! I am his age and do not hunt anymore and I also worked for Dupont years ago. Your videos are just like being in the woods with you. Great to hear the dogs running. I have 4 hanging on the wall.Thanks for all of your efforts!!! Bernard

+navajopa31 What area did you work in? I was out there 1963 through 1993. Capt. Buster
@navajopa319 жыл бұрын
Capt.Buster: I worked at Dupont's Spruance plant just south of the Richmond Va. city line in Chesterfield Co. It was built in 1929 as a fiber plant and I was there from 1961 to 1968. It made rayon and nylon in 1961. I worked in both units until I went into the crafts. I chose pipefitting after 2 years there. General pipefitting worked plus I worked in the research lab for the new products that became Nomex and Tyvek. I took flying lessons during this time and quit in 1968 for a career in aviation and retired as a corporate pilot in 2000. I love your videos because it reminds me of the club I was in for 20 years with the joking and kidding among the members of all ages and the sound of the dogs that still makes my pulse quicken. Thanks for all of your time doing these videos. I know how difficult it is to video hunting deer with dogs. Bernard

+Jonathan Shirah Well Jonathon... the deer around here used to figure; as long as they were over 70 yards away, they were safe... but now they have to rethink that strategy! I would love a Range Finder! Then I wouldn't have to step it off!!

I’ve seen my dad shoot at deer with a 30-30 at 250+ yards and I laugh and ask him what was he thinking. He’d always say son sometimes they get to far away to kill but never to far away to shoot at 😅. We still talk about some of the times we hunted together when I was a young whipper snapper

why do you guys shoot buckshot instead of slugs
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors8 жыл бұрын
SC law states, while conducting a Deer drive buckshot must be used! I'm sure that it's a safety issue with DNR. Wade

Can you all use slugs?
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors9 жыл бұрын
+Danny Starliper Hey Danny... In SC, if hunting deer on any kind of drive 'Man-drive or Push' or a 'Dog drive' Rifles & Shotgun slugs are illegal to use! Shotguns with buckshot are the only legal means to use on a deer drive (Here in SC)

I can honestly say that after using your shotgun load data,my distance has doubled with my old 12 GA pump it's a early 80's coast to coast master mag 30" vr fixed full choke and with off the shelf Winchester 3" number 4 buck my preferred load for deer hunting out to 75 yard's it would put anywhere from 23 to 35 pellets in a 12" circle out of the 41 pellets but after trying your extended range data that shotgun will reach out to 150 yard's,granted at that distance I hold about a foot over the deers back and letter rip tatter chip,and watch it fall,if you ever decide you would like to start your own brand of ammo for shotguns I'd be willing to put money behind it I believe you could make a good sum off of it,there is no hype it's the most effective ammo I've ever had for shotgun hunting and it does just as good in my Remington 11-87 super mag and that shotgun hates any ammo except Winchester 000 buck but with your loads it Will feed and pattern like a custom made shotgun,thanks for another great video and congratulations on all those deer god bless

@WILDBILLSOUTDOORS9 жыл бұрын
Thought I'd share something I posted on an Alabama deer talk radio post, I hope this doesn't happen to ya'll, take steps to ensure that what you love will be here for tomorrow.........."Hunters and the dollar bill is the biggest enemy of dog running, It's pretty much over with here in Louisiana, could happen in your state as well. I understand the necessity of leasing, but leasing will put an end to dog running, it already has here in Louisiana. With the timber companies constantly raising their lease prices it's already to the point where an average middle class person can't hardly afford to hunt anymore, and with all the still hunters paying on averrage 1000-1500 a year just to be in a lease and add to that QDMA, wich by the way I'm all for, but when Joe Nimrod is paying all this money and letting all these deer pass so they can grow to maturity and a pack of hounds comes rolling through and "ruins" his hunt, not to mention the dog owners trying to catch the dogs and get em rounded up, well all it takes is for Joe Nimrod to know or be buddies or kin with the "right" people and that's all she wrote for the dog runner. As of this year dog running is strictly forbidden on all Weyerhauser land here in LA, and guess what, Weyerhauser just bought out Plum Creek so now there is basically not a deer lease in the state where dog running will be allowed. I wish that hunters would stick together and just quit leasing until the companies get the message and lower prices or go to a permitting system, but that ain't nothing but a pipe dream, ain't gonna happen. And the thing that pisses me off about the high lease prices is it's not like they do anything for us other than allow us to trespass, they're not out there planting food plots and making improvements to benefit the hunter, strictly a trespass fee. I understand it's a business and it's their property to do with as they see fit, but the high lease prices are just plain wrong in my opinion. Now, believe it or not I'm not a dog hunter, I have enjoyed it in the past, but I haven't been dog running in several years, but I hate to see someones rights taken away from them. Hunters and the dollar bill, the biggest enemy of dog running period."
