I'm looking to choose proper memory, but I'm a bit confused about which memory card to choose. Option 1: 6ES7954-8LF02-0AA0 This seems to be a spare part for SIMATIC S7, offering 24 MByte memory with 3.3V Flash, suitable for S7-1x00 CPU/SINAMICS. Option 2: 6ES7954-8LF03-0AA0 Similarly, this memory card is designed for S7-1x00 CPU/SINAMICS, providing 24 MByte memory with 3.3V Flash. For my second query, my CPU has read access but only write access is protected. If I reset the CPU from online and diagnostics, then reload the original program backup after removing the password, would it work?

If you have to use 24MB card, order 6ES7954-8LF03-0AA0, the xx02 is phase out part number. Typically a 4MB size card is good enough unless you are going to do huge project. You method will not work, your PLC will still be password protected because the HW configuration located in the card, it will work for your CPU once you use it and power up your CPU. You can upload your PLC to TIA Portal (HW & program), remove the password from the HW configuration, then download the CPU. Then you are free to use this CPU.

Hi. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. My question is, I somehow manage to get the upload from the password protected PLC. Now I have the uploaded project in my hand. But I don't have the original project. In this case, I'll use the SMC card in transfer mode and wipe it the protected PLC. After that I can download the uploaded project to that empty PLC directly right? Waiting for your reply.. Thanks in Advance.

Using the card shown in the video can reset and wipe out your PLC. The program and Password in the PLC will be gone. Then it will be a fresh device for you

Sorry, it doesn't work. Once you use a empty card to reset the CPU, the program is gone.

No, DO NOT USE WINDOWS TO FORMAT SIEMENS CARD. If you do, it can not be used for PLC anymore.

No you can not run because the SMC card was set as "transfer" rather than "program"

No, sorry. The card is used to 'RESET' the PLC, it will wipe out the PLC. You will lost the program. Therefore, you need original TIA Portal program.

Hello Greetings I have a 1200 blocked. Always ask me for password. I done this procedure with 2 mb Simatic memory card with a empty program, without password and full access using Tia Portal V17. But I cant get access, the PLC still have protection. Any help?

I think you missed some operations. Also I don't think the video shown the 2mb is available for the reset operation.

You were right that the 2mb card was not listed on the cards for the procedure. so I bought a 4mb model 6ES7-954-8LC03-0AA0 But I still can't erase the CPU I follow the same procedure that you do in the video. After configuring the card as transfer, a S7_JOB.SYS file and a SIMATIC.SYS folder appear, is that normal? Any ideas, what am I doing wrong? I am with a CPU 1212C Firmware V4.6 with TIA Portal V17

S7-1500 has memory card and it also come with reset switch. It operators difference with S7-1200

Hi, unfortunately, 6ES7953-8LJ11-0AA0 is the S7-300 card, and it does not fit for S7-1200/S7-1500
