Man. I finally broke the bank and bought the XF -250's for my 150. These pumps are sooooo strong. I had to back them down to 20%. I'm still playing with them to get the flow to a good place.

So based on this video it looks like you had your tank setup with the flow blasting along the surface, and that somehow generated enough all around? I have one gyre on one side right now and it doesn't seem to move much unless I direct it downwards into my corals for direct flow
@CJSAQUARIUMS Жыл бұрын
Yes you have to be able to get it accross to bounce down the wall on other side of the tank to create the gyre effect.
@saurabhdoha3 жыл бұрын
can you share the program which i can copy an use on my gyres
@GammaRho556 жыл бұрын
Any chance you'd share your gyre programming? I've been running the LTC option, but doesn't seem to be cutting it. Been getting some cyano in the front corners of the tank. Thanks for your help!

I was about to ask the very same question. I like the look of the flow in your tank, and mine is set up VERY similar as far as rock setup etc. Honestly wouldn't know how to program for that. I have a 75 gl tank, with one gyre. Any advice or suggestions for settings? Please. :)

What style CJ, love your videos - subscribed. I'm running two 350's in tandem in a 260 gal tank. I can agree about the cleaning process, but I started out with an original 150, which to disassemble, was a nightmare in comparison. I still have a drawer of spare parts for it (it's still running as a backup after 5 yrs!). The other neg., as you say, are the dead spots. In my case, I added 2 AI Nero 3's (which can also push a helluva lot of H2O around) lower down in the tank. Another big negative for me is that these pumps seem to be magnets for Cyanos and other forms of algae (which is why frequent cleaning is so necessary). But you're right, for pushing water around there's nothing better.

Hey CJ do you have trouble with your blue head wrasse eating your clean up crew or shrimp?
@CJSAQUARIUMS6 жыл бұрын
bracka69 yes he murders any hermit on site and any small cleaner shrimp. I currently have 4 shrimp and 1 lobster it hasn’t touched. But they are big ...
@bracka696 жыл бұрын
CJ'S AQUARIUMS Oh wow.. I’m planning on getting one for my 150. Hermit crabs not a problem as I can get as much as I want from the tide pools around my island. Shrimp now I don’t have access to.

Good vid man, I have two gyre's..one is the newer 230 with the advanced controller and the other is the xf130 which is basically the same pump but older. My first advanced controller was faulty out of the box and COralvue sent me a new one. I agree that the controller is the best right now and in terms of quality of flow the gyre's are the best BUT like you said the maintenance on them sucks compared to an MP pump and the noise is almost straight up ridiculous. What's interesting is my older xf130 is virtually dead silent even at 100% where as the newer 230 you can clearly hear in as little as 20% and get over 40% at certain flow modes and it's downright stupid loud! I have noticed that the sound varies between different flow patterns so at 40% pulse mode it's very noticeable but 40% at a different flow pattern isn't as bad. The instruction manual that comes with the controller is basically useless IMO too. They need to work on the noise of these pumps and they'd be hands down the best overall pumps in the hobby however, with that ridiculous noise I imagine a lot of people will return them. Also, I'm pretty sure I'll be requesting ANOTHER controller as I think this replacement is also faulty because in the auto LTC mode pump B does not go over 20% even with the max is set at like 60%.

I thought I saw it on BRS. There is a program for the gyre that uses two gyres on opposites ends of the tank. For example, as the left gyre is ramping up the right side is ramping down. This goes back and forth. You mentioned the down force being in the center of the tank. This program moves the down force from the left to right and back. I thought that was kind of neat. stirs up low flow areas and makes sure waste cannot settle at the bottom. Is this something you could use? The video I saw this on gave the programming steps. I'd swear it was on BRS
@CJSAQUARIUMS6 жыл бұрын
strat1960s yea I know exactly what your talking about... I showed an example of a diff way to do that with one set for wave and the other set for random... pump truly has a million possibilities
@strat1960s6 жыл бұрын
www.bulkreefsupply.com/xf250-gyre-pump-with-controller-5300-gph-maxspect.htmlI found the above BRS video, but to do it, you have to get to ice cap controller interfaces. Argh! More money. LOL
@CJSAQUARIUMS6 жыл бұрын
this can be done with the Automatic Mode you can program on the gyre controller.. you dont need Icecap for anything unless u want to program the gyre using a Fusion app... this controller is very very powerful and flexible
@strat1960s6 жыл бұрын
I figured that from watching your video and a few others. I'm still a ways away from setting up my tank.
